I hope this number goes up within a few years, for the United States' sake! It's rediculous that evolution isn't taught there when it's been taught for MANY years in other countries, like Canada.
They actually taught me evolution at my private Catholic high school. They also taught me that if a baby got hit by a car before it was baptized, it would go to Purgatory instead of Heaven. Very mixed messages.

I always felt the unbaptised kids got it rough - your parents are a bit lazy, you're a model child and get straight A's at school, help old ladies cross roads, etc.... you get horribly killed, and God's response... Purgatory for you kid! For eternity! Or did they get a second chance? My memory is hazy on that point?
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I'd had the impression that people who got sent to Purgatory were only there for a while, until they "paid off" whatever sins landed them there. I.e., it's not eternal like Hell -- you'd eventually get into Heaven. [edit: Godly detention], if you will.
But then, that's only the impression I got. I may well be mistaken.

Evoution is what we'd call a "one sided" issue. One side feels very strongly about it and would want to talk about it... while the otherside really doesn't care.
I mean if someone asked you if you wanted to take a poll about evolution... a multple question poll... what are the chances you would actually stay on the phone if you believed in evolution? As such i'd guess the numbers are abit overinflated.
That's why most studies tend to offer compensation. A little token thing... but it's enough to get people to spend 10 minutes of their day. |

Yeah for me answering a 15 minute poll about evolution would be like answering a 15 minute poll about my thoughts on pasteurization. And by that I mean very very important to my way of life.
