Well the big selling games releasing this year in Japan are:
1. FFXIII
2. PES '10 (multi-platform but will sell well)
3. 99% chance of GT5

...............that is it. I think at best the PS3 will do another 1m million this year which is actually pretty darn huge for the console. Games like Ryu Ga Gokotu 4 next year will also spike sales some but chances are that the spikes will be bigger due to the price cut.

Possible, but very hard.
1.7 mil from now until March 31? Isn't it around 50% of the current Slim install base in Japan?
Seems like japanese analysts put a lot more faith in the price cut and FF13 than we do.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Holiday period in Japan really isnt until early January. It is not Christmas.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

i think its possible for sony to have an install base of 5m at the end of this fiscal year. take a look at the sales numbers during the release of the demo from ff13 how many ps3 got sold.
