Forums - Website Topics - VGChartz ( Deals ) Section

I think it's past due that we have a ( Deals ) section.

It's not just a recession thing, but rather a save money in general thing. I know I have an addiction to games, and to find a deal to help me save money is a great way to help me feel better about my addiction.. lol...

I also think it will bring new people to the forum, and if we keep the section up and running (up-to-date) it will keep users coming to find the best deals.
I have no problem helping this site with this new section, doing research on game sales, and finding out what online stores are safe for buying.

The deals will consist of Games/Accessories/Systems.

Inside this section we should have different sections of Deals for the appropriate region example: CAN/US/NA/UK/EU/JA (so the user knows if deal is available for them)

Or

We can just have one section and leave it up to the poster to make it known what area the sale is for.

Example: (US)(NL)(360) Ghostbusters 30% off Today Only = (United States Only) (Not Region Locked) (Xbox360) Ghostbusters 30% off today only

This way the person knows it's in a US store, but they could possibly go online and get it for their console because it's not region locked.

Also we will have Our VGChartz Store the sticky in each section.

Also when posting, it is important to not just leave a link and type sale. Let the people know if you bought the item from the store, if it's a trust worthy store and not a scam.

Maybe down the road we can have a section were users can sell games to each other like craigslist.. I think I made a thread on that before..

I think that would be great. But to have the sort of site value you're talking about you would need to formalize it, in the same vein as we have site staff for the game database etc...

I recognise that the last time I was put on VGC staff I got busy and completely neglected it, but I think this is a great idea, and if implemented I would be happy to handle the Australian section of the feature in it's entirety.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

I've already proposed a forum for users selling goods. The last website I went to that had a section like that had 100% success. However, it was a motorcycle forum which does mean that everyone was 18 or older, not that it changes much, because adults can be just as bad as kids

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

I think this is great idea. There are often lots of great deals many of us never have a chance to see. The selling from user to user though can be touchy especially when minors are added to the mix.

I just visit a couple of deal sites myself whenever I look to purchase something. A Deals section could get some traffic, but I really doubt it'd be anything more than looking at CAG and maybe SD and posting some threads from there. I know at SD when people posting deals from CAG and don't credit the OP at CAG some people get upset, though I think that has more to do with them getting a lot of +rep. This site has none of that so that probably wouldn't be much of an issue.

The only problem I can think of with a trading outlet is younger people would have much more limited access to credit cards and Paypal accounts. And they may have more trouble getting the games to the post office to ship them, too. It might be better than ebay though since I pay like 10-20% in fees after the ones ebay and Paypal imposes on me.

I would stand behind that.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
