Forums - Sales Discussion - Change in Sales Game of the Day (9/13) - Forza 2

It seems like there are different opinions on how many units of Forza 2 were sold because of bundles. I'm not that familiar with the Forza 2 bundles, so when did the game start being bundled, was it bundled with all 360 SKUs and when did the bundle end?

@ goddog,

That's fine for it to be your reason, but do you have any particular reason to think Forza 1 is under tracked?

felt it was a good game and based on evidence from just my local circle a highly bought game, and one that became a pack in the last christmas the xbox was out

20 minutes left until the poll expires, so get your votes in. I'll have the results posted up shortly after, so please look out for that.

Here are the results (also in original post)

Despite getting a few more votes in the poll than usual, two answers actually got no votes, "It was a better game than Forza 1" and "Better advertising/promotion".  As you can see the "bundles" option was by far the most popular, with "franchise gaining momentum" in a distant second.

My take: I'm not that familiar with Forza so I will keep this shorter than ususal. As a number of posters in the thread pointed out, sales of Forza 2 really shot up after the bundle was introduced, so that is obviously a big factor.  That said the game had already surpassed the sales of Forza 1 by a decent margin by the time the bundle was introduced, so I do think the franchise is picking up momentum.  I also think the lack of competition may have played a role, both on the console and in the genre.  It was released fairly early on in the 360's life, so a lot of people may have picked it up since not that many other big name games had been released yet.  Also we all know how huge the Gran Turismo series is, but before Forza there wasn't much competition in the racing sim genre, and even less competition that was of comparable quality. So I guess the explanation of why Forza 2 increased is not that interesting, but what will be interesting to see is if people who got Forza 2 through bundles, or because of the lack of competition will buy Forza 3 when it comes out.  What do you all think?

You cant do a poll with Xbox 360 here on VGChartz because there are so many PS fans.

It wasnt bundled untill recently, but i suppose a poll is a opinion.

i have a feeling forza is undertracked, forza 1 was bundled with the xbox. They had that 3 in 1 pack that came with the system that my roommate got at that time.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

It was doing better than its predecessor even without bundles, but the bundles bloated the franchise past its actual size (similar to Gran Turismo 3).

GT3 sold more 15? million though

GT4 sold olver 10 million without any major bundle.

To be fair it's because it was bundled that I have it... and I actually enjoy it so I'll pick up 3 when I normally would have skipped out on both of them... do you think that the heavy bundling will have a possitive effect on Forza 3?
