Forums - Sony - Game Of The Year Candidates so Far All PS3

As a ps3 only owner I'm going to go ahead and take Killzone 2 out of the running. It's better than I anticipated but no contender for goty.

Demon's Souls Official Thread  | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka

I'm sure it won't get as many rewards as most listed (though it may win the GDC awards, which are the most important ones), but might as well throw this out there:

Just so we can all stop pretending that it doesn't exist.

soooo what about demon souls?

Sadly, it'll be ignored by the press most likely.

It's a shame being that it's such an awesome game.

@lolcis, lol so u think NSMBWii will be better then Uncharted 2? roflroflrofl

Personal preferences aside, ROFL here is just wrong.  Uncharted generally scored in the high 80's, main series Mario Bros games....not sure there is one that was ever scored that low.

I'm not saying U2 won't win GOTY but to say that NSMBW has no chance is silly and shortsighted given the heritage of the two franchises.

For a 2D platformer to win GOTY it'd have to be something entirely unique and amazing like LittleBigPlanet. NSMB Wii looks and plays identically to a DS game released 4 years ago. I'm sure it will win a few awards based on nostalgia and name alone, but realistically it doesn't stand much of a chance.

All I have to say is that Halo Wars is not going to win any of them. Even though it deserves it more than any other game this year. Killzone 2 does not deserve to get any. I found that it was just another average mediocre shooter, without the only redeeming quality that Halo has which is co-op play.

Modern Warfare 2 just seems to be Modern Warfare reshelled and I don't see it being as highly rated as the first.

My personal pick for game of the year is *Drum Roll* Batman: Arkham Asylum. This is the only game this year that i just wanted to play, and continue to play even after I beat it. I found the all the aspects of the game to stay fresh throughout he game and never even get near being repetitive. Plus all the riddles and challenge rooms added stuff outside of the campaign for me to enjoy.

I also think that maybe Halo 3:ODST also has a chance to get a game of the year. the single player campaign looks to be a massive overhaul from the third. Along with being able to play co-op with a couple of friends is a massive bonus. Plus combined with all the multiplayer maps as well as the new Firefight mode is mking this game look like way more than just a simple expansion pack

I agree about Killzone 2, but you already knew that. I hope you brought your flame suit!

Why no love for RE5? I have played through that game 9 times! And I am not exaggerating, I think it should at least get a mention. I am also looking forward to ODST and I feel it will be close to my GOTY!

I haven't played Resident Evil 5, so I am not able to comment on its chances at game fo the year.

lol, I was all prepared for a flame war, but my comment mostly went unnoticed

5 game that I think would be GOTY 2009

*Uncharted 2
*MW2
*Killzone 2
*Assasins creed 2
*Batman AA

would be a surprise to see nominated

*Demon souls
*Infamous
*Ratchet AciT

it will probably go to modern warfare 2 or Batman AA. But IMO Demon Souls is the only one worthy of recieving this title even though the stupid game sites wont give it the recognition it deserves

I'm curious, have you played Killzone 2?

Don't Think They Did.

Too many games for Game of The Year awards. If were going by Who had the best exclusive line-ups this year Sony has this year in the bag. (as Well as last year). But for each console I see it going down this way

PS3: Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2 or GT5-=GOTY Winners. with inFamous,MLB 09, Demons Souls , Ratchet and Clank, Batman AA, MW2, ACII as contenders.

Xbox 360: Halo ODST or Modern Warfare 2 being the Goty Winners. With L4D2, Halo Wars and Forza being contenders

Wii: Muramasa is taking this cake my friends. No other games will even be able to compete

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
