I higly doubt you will be able to mod your console to play gfx on better levels or use mods or any of that stuff outside of homebrews.

This is about like saying "I doubt you'll be able to mod your console without modding your console."

I meant hardware-wise in the first part. You won't be abel to pop in a new graphics card or a new cpu to get better performance or anything.

I think the problem with this debate is that one man's conception of PC gaming is different to someone else's. Yes it's true that you can hook a wii remote up to a PC, but that requires a level of expertise that a normal person does not have. If you want to bring technical expertise into the debate to prop up the PC side, then we could turn the whole argument around and say that a real technological expert could modify a console to give it many of the advantages which a PC supposedly has.

When talking about PC gaming, I mean the kind of gaming you get from a PC with a normal level of expertise, I think it's the only sensible way to approach the debate. And exclusives are relevant because they dictate the kind of games you can play on the respective platforms. When talking about gaming on a Nintendo console you don't just think of the hardware, you think of the games; it's part of the whole package.

That isn't really the same thing. To allow a PC to use a control option you probably only have to buy a cheap extra adapter(such as a blue tooth and wii IR reading adapter) and download some software. On the console side of things you first need a way to mod the console, which may take years for somebody to figure out, and then you have to go throught he process of installation that may or may not be easy. Even then I know of very few mods for consoles that allow you to increase graphic fidelty, and the ones I do know of are much more dangerous than doing something like putting in ram or a gpu. So it isn't anywhere near the same level of expertise. You basically need to have an education in the field of expertise to modify a console, when all you need to modify a PC is a 10 minute youtube video.

I say console gaming. Even if it has become more complicated lately, with installs and such, buying a console will still give you a good 6 years of support without any modifications or upgrades. With a PC, you buy top of the line hardware, within six months it's average, within another six months, it's outdated.

This is completely untrue.

PS360 are obsolete too, you know, and have been for a while.  The difference is that in the case of PCs, you have the option to upgrade, even though it's not necessarily required.

Yes, the PS3 and 360 are obsolete and have dated hardware. But for the full console lifecycle, developers will be developing for that obsolete and dated hardware, whereas with a PC, you may have just bought the NVIDIA GeForce 6600, and then a year later you won't be able to run any games until you get the latest hardware, the NVIDIA GeForce 6700 or 6601 or whatever.

Nowadays you can get a PC for $400 that plays games much better than PS3 and 360 ever could. PC gaming is cheaper than HD Console gaming right now.

For me personally-- consoles.

I like playing games on my big TV on my comfy couch with my nice surround sound. I do not like spending hours in my shitty office chair, my 17" monitor, and my even shittier speakers. I also hate fiddling with installs, patches, and anything else that can go wrong with PC installs.

And I know, I can hook my PC up to my TV, but I also hate lugging my PC around and fiddling with wires. I enjoy the convenience of just putting my disc in my console and it just works. Even with things like patches and installs, it all just happens automatically and requires no trouble on my part.

Your argument is terrible and crappy.

First, you can easily plug your PC into your HDTV and sit on your comfy couch.

Second, or you can buy a comfy office chair, like any PC gamer with a brain does.

Third, Steam is your friend (and many other DD services). With Steam (and other DD services) you will never have to worry about fiddling with patches, installs and many things that can go wrong with PC installs.

I just shot down your 3 main reasons against PC gaming.

Consoles are way better imo.  They are way more user-friendly, and with integrated communities like live, they are more fun.  They are way better for FPS, (It actually takes skill as oppossed to point and click) Co-op orientated games, Rythm games, (try hooking up Rock Band to your computer and playing with 4 people) and pretty much every other genre is just more fun with consoles.  Plus Pc's are more expensive, and their graphics for the most part are about the same as consoles.

PC is so better for RTS's, and MMO's (WOW!!!) but thats about it

Uh no. While it takes skill to use any control scheme well, don't think that a mouse is just oh so easy. Unless of course you're playing something like Left4Dead which is all about the twitch reflexes and easy to kill enemies, but that's where the harder difficulties come into play. Since it's all about opinions though, I felt that playing Left4Dead on the 360 was gimped with the controller versus playing it with a keyboard/mouse on my PC. Not only that, split screen put a delay on the controls (though lower frame rates or whatever) that killed the experience for me. While I do like split screen from time to time, I think I'd rather keep the performance and something like online co-op instead.

If you think a mouse takes no skill, I recommend you actually play games like Team Fortress 2 (especially sniping against good snipers and rocket/pipe bomb jumbers) and competitive games like Counter-Strike.

I played Counter-Strike over at a friends, and not only did I find it incredibly boring, but it was very easy.   The only reason as why I didn't do that great was because I didn't have a clue how the maps were set up.

Then like with any game, try playing with people at or higher than your skill level.

There are far more gamers on PC that are integrated into communities. Steam itself has over 20 millions PC gamers.

Another thing is, PCs have been getting more user-friendly, while consoles are becoming less user-friendly. Infact, I'd argue that a Steam-only gamer has it as easy as a Xbox 360 gamer, if not more so.

HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAA!!! Try again.

Do you know the reason why proffessional gaming is so much more evolved on PC than in all other platforms combined? It's because of the control scheme of PC. Mouse and keyboard is a masterful combo that allows the skill of the players to take over and it truly rewards those that have the skills. Gamepads are terrible aim-based games because the auto-aim function takes hardly gives any reward for the best gamers, and takes away most of the gap between the top and the bottom skill gamers.

Also, Left 4 Dead's hardest difficulty on Xbox 360 is the easy mode of the PC version! What does that tell you?!

Sports games are also better on consoles. How about platformers? Oh and rpg:s are better on consoles, simply because there aren't that many jrpg:s on pc.
