It blatantly is Darth ..
No one remembers Dreamcast?
Everybody i know who likes games in the UK knows of the mighty Dreamcast.
Mind you, all my freinds are early 30's up to mid 40's.
I suppose that over time as more and more youths enter gaming then its bound to become less known. (Which is a damn shame)
@seece
it blatantly is not
Me & my friend as a joke asked GAME/Gamestation store clerks about the dreamcast (& virtua boy in fact on the same day just for laughs).....
only one of them knew what it was....& he was very rude about it, probably won't let us in the store again.....the others had dumb looks on their faces....
Anecdotal evidence I know.....but if you want you can try yourself.
@ronster316
thats probably the reason....I can claim no-one in my school knows of it except for me & my friend & another kid who says he used it as a "doortstopper" after it was discontinued. the rest of the gamers....know nothing about it.
NOTE....people STILL seem to remember the genesis though.....very fondly too (people call it the SEGA at my school, the SEGA that they played that cool 2D sonic game on.......well some even call it genesis)
but dreamcast.....sorry no-one/not many I can see
| emilie autumn said: how can you say no one remembers dreamcast?? dreamcast was beyond its time, to put it in perspective, think of the PS3 releasing alongside the gamecube and Xbox instead of the ps2. |
No I think you forgot what really happened.
The Dreamcast released in 1999, PS2 released in 2000.
It would be the equivalent of , OH MY GOD, xbox 360 launching in 2005!
Confirmed, xbox 360 is the Dreamcast of this generation, and further proves the slim has ended all hopes of it making it past 2010.

@xxain
dumb looks.....was a way of saying things.....ofcourse they said "WTF are you talking about" with dumb expressions
what I'm trying to prove is that no-one/statistically significant amount from my generation REMEMBERS the dreamcast........BUT somehow most people remember genesis
this spells out the message loud & clear.......public mindshare for the dreamcast is very low
@slimebeast
test me.....history was my best subject at GCSE! (just don't go near WW1 trench warfare....thats my weak bit)!!

no I'm not, especially not for versus 13.....people who think versus 13 can do 50% of FF13 sales & do historically unprecedented sales for a spin off in Japan on a "not winning" platform are out of their mind
