Forums - Sales - Will a Wii PRICE CUT Have a "BIG" Effect (like PS3's/360's)?!

Many people on this stie are saying a wii price cut WILL NOT SEE a profound sales impact.

Now I am not sure how true this is, as didn't PS2 have its best year in the year its price got cut from $299?

$250 is cheap....we don't hear wii price complaints.

But is there still a BIG group/demographic present that will buy a wii in the millions if the price is cut to $199/$150?

or is the wii's price a non-issue for it?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Every price cut has an effect, it depends when...in October/November will do better than now short term, long term it will be a better thing than the X360 Elite cut (for sales, not profit).

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

help? sure, but probably not a ton.

I think what is hurting the wii more than anything is shitty 3rd party support. nintendo games are excellent but nintendo can't be the only one doing interesting games on their platform with sadly, imo, it the current truth.

If Nintendo dropped the Wii to $150, yeah, there would be a horrendous explosion of demand, but that might only be in the short-term. It's hard to say whether or not the effect would be sustained.

I'm sure a price cut would help them but not tremendously. There probably only a handful of people waiting to get a Wii at a lower price point but that's not very many. Wii still sells well because of the mass appeal but at some point but it should hit a saturation point.

I could see a reason for someone to have a second xbox or ps3 but I can't think of any reason for wanting a second Wii(other than being too lazy to move it).

It would help sales, but sales right now are only a consequence of the real problem. Compelling software is the only real answer to that problem.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

A $50 price cut wiiilp lo. All the casuals thatavn't bought a console will buy a wii straight away.

I don't think that wii pricecut will do as much as PS3/360 pricecuts.

The Wii is different.

PS3 had a bunch of Sony lovers waiting for the price to come down... 360 price cuts were a drive to $199.

I wonder how many people don't have a Wii and are waiting for a cut? It will help sales, but I am not sure it will jolt them like we have seen with the recent PS3 cut... Of the people I know, I don't see many with a Wii on the list this year.

A price cut would help, but much like the PS3 and 360's price cuts without software momentum it would be only a spike and then a fall back to normalcy, so no a price cut is not the route they need, what they need is the release of strong software titles like Wii Fit plus and NSMB Wii
