I've only played FF7 , FF8 , FF9 , FF10 and FF12

5) FF12 -  Well this story is kinda slow and unusual and it certainly isn't mind-blowing like other final fantasy game. The  gameplay wasn't that good since it more resembled of an MMORPG game that the usual ATB type system that i grew up with. Nevertheless it was a refreshing take to the final fantasy world.

4) FF9 -  Back to old school xD One thing i loved about 10 was the simplicity and how nostalgic it was to the final fantasy fans. Watching the black mages and vivi running around reminded gamers of the older final fantasy games. This may not be the case for newcomers but i reallyy enjoyed this game alot.

3) FF8 -  This game changed the RPG genre into a whole new level (thats what i think xD) The gameplay was different from earlier Final Fantasy games due to the junction system and it was pre-rendered. The story was remarkbly different too. It was more matured and was aimed at older gamers. The story was phenomenal (its a love story xD) and had a really good soundtrack too. Squall is a memorable character, and the CGI scenes were the best on the PS1 when it came out. I even cried when Squall grabbed Rinoa in a touching scene... LOL

2) FF7 -  This game is just epic until it helped brought JRPGs into the mainstream genres. Sure this may be disputed but this game surely made a big impact to the gaming industry.  I love FF7 because it had the most memorable moment in gaming history. Yes sephy stabbed Aerith (nooooooooooooooooooo...) Okay so maybe you didn't know this but it was really shocking IMO.  It is truly one of the greatest game ever made. (Go play if you haven't its on PSN.)

1) FF10 - Wooooo number 1!!! Of all the stories in Final Fantasy this is the best IMO. The characters were memorable and it had a mind-blowing musical score. It had voice acting and had the most customization in Final Fantasy yet. Go play this game even if you hate JRPG. This is perhaps the strongest and deepest Final Fantasy titles you'll ever play.

Crisis Core and few other FF titles are near the top.

1) FFVI - IMO, the pinacle of the series, I just feel nothing has matched this game to date.
2) FFIX - The playstations finest RPG, an absolute love letter to everything final fantasy is about.
3) FFIV - The simplest story, but the best gameplay and character development, also one of the most badass soundtracks.
4) FFXII - Highly under-rated. Superb characters, superb voice acting, breathtaking visuals, breathtaking soundtrack, a classical final fantasy story told in an epic way no other final fantasy ever did. This is more of a final fantasy game than any other post ps1 game has ever been, I guess people don't really like what final fantasy is all about, but that's fine to me. The voice acting and english translation of this game makes most western fantasy RPGs look childish.
5) FFV - Arguably the best ever made, THE cookie cutter final fantasy, flawless in every way, but it lacks the charm IV and VI have.
6) FFVIII - This game had one of the best endings, one of the most innovative and intuitve character growth systems and the story was pretty great, it was just a lot more mature and a lot different than what most final fantasy fans were expecting.
7) FFVII - Over rated,  but great none the less. I found the story to get very covoluted and It seems to me like its exactly the same as ffvi without the charm and worse characters, but this is just my opinion. Limit breaks are the best part of this game.
8) FFI - This is the one that started it all, but they improved the formula so much after 3.
9) FFII - Better than I alone, but as a series it was not a big enough improvement to merit a higher ranking.
10) FFIII - A huge step downwards, the bottom of the series before the glories climb of IV, V and VI the best the series has ever been.

11) FFX - Technically the best game, but for some reason the cliche story and dull, almost silly characters with way too much drama and not enough personality just makes me not like this game as much as the others. Massive props for Auron and Wakka, two of the best characters the series has ever had.

Spin offs:

1) Dissidia: Final Fantasy -- This is fantastic, everything a spin off should be.

2) Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 -- In my eyes, better than the original, should be played in japanee though, the english va/localization is horrible.

3) FFXI - Best MMO ever created, looking forward to XIV.

Strategy Series:

1) Final Fantasy Tactics. Amazing, nuff said.

2) The crystal defenders: This is a surprisingly very well made game(PSN/XBL?)
