Forums - Gaming - Will Sonic ever make comeback?

I just found out my Sonic Advance 2 for Gba...Good olf times.

Even tho I have missed most of Sonic learlier games that are said to be legends among legends.

Thinkin how great Sonic games were at that time..

Nowdays Sonic games are in get scores like 3/10 etc and are just bad games.

Sega made Sonic to Marios best pal from worst enemy..

I dunno, I really hope they can do something in next few years.

If not, we can RIP him.

Tho Mario and Sonic at olympics etc games will sell well, as well most of Sonic games.

ya Sonic can make a comeback, Sega just has to bring him back to his roots and what made playing those old games great

The problem is that Sonic went from a prestige game to a commercial product. He's never going to retrieve that particular magic he had. You can see the difference even in the jump from Sonic Adventure 2 to Sonic Heroes (especially in showing that the loss of magic had nothing to do with the transition to 3D)

Sonic can never return to his former glory, because that's tied to him being a console mascot. He can, however, find a new path beyond the reckless whoring that SEGA is now subjecting him to (not that they're actually bad games, except for Sonic Chronicles & Sonic 06, but it's about the attitude with which they use Sonic, the same way Activision uses Guitar Hero)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Sonic isn't dead or even close to being dead. His games sell very well and many are very fun to play.

Unfortunately, he's the victim of a small but vocal group of people with rose-colored glasses still living in the 90s that are determined to hate just about every game he's in that isn't a 2D platformer.

bring it back to like sonic 1,2 and 3 and it will

Sonic Heroes was a pretty good Sonic game IMO, although the levels were too lenghty and the controls were quite loose, it was like you were controlling a marble ball and not a character. (I haven't played the other 3D games except for 3D Blast)

The "problem" is that most of the raging nostalgic fans have the notion that Sonic is about "holding right and jumping now and then", which was never true.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

My main complaint is there's not button to let him spin anymore..I mean WTF?

But the last two sonic games (Sonic 06 was just horrible, Sonic Unleashed had potential to be good with the daytime levels but nightime was horrible) put sonic in a coffin, one more bad games is just the nail on it.

I think even if the next sonic game is good it wont sell like they used too

there are some good sonic games out there. What do you mean by "comeback" ?

More like had a couple of bad strings and bad decisions ( see Shadow te Hedgehog and the chick in Sonic 06) and had a good potential  hit but bad performance, and finally makes a hit sometime later...otherwise known as the Britney Spears Effect. Of course, Sonic didn't flash his coochie(wang?...does he really have something down there?) or shave his spikey hair but human kissing comes close.

Just 1 2D game to Ds would be enough for most of players, and if it could get to 80+metacritic it would be nice for Sega point of view.
Then they might start to make some masterpieces.
