Forums - Gaming - Console sellers!!

MGS4 is one of the last console sellers I recall, it even forced the 360 to do a price cut, and gave a sweet breath to PS3.

now, I want a 360 because of gears2 and fable 2.

I want a Wii for the next silent hill game.

I don't know if it's enough to buy those consoles for those games , what do u think?

what do u think will be the next console sellers?.

I think this are the most important because right now in price is not now a big excuse to get 1 console instead of other.

I'd really like to have that silent hill game for my PS3 when they released the wand btw.

Some say that halo games are not console selling anymore because everyone that loves halo has a 360 or have had in case they don't have it anymore. :P

Regardless of online hype, there are veeeery few 'system sellers'. Wii Fit is a system seller, Halo 3 is a system seller, Wii Sports is a system seller, and a couple others.

Other games cause a short bump and then sales level back out.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Don't forget Wii Sports Resort!

And didn't Metal Gear Solid 4 only cause a short spike? Halo 3, Wii Fit and Mario kart Wii did much better.

I believe that Gran Turismo 5 will push a lot of consoles, as well as New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

This is invisible text!

True system sellers are hard to find

Gran Turismo, Halo, wii franchise, Mario & pokemon (probably the biggest one) are all thats left of this dying breed of dinosaurs

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I would recommend you to get a Xbox360 now, since Gears of War , Gears of War 2 and Fable II are already available. And you should pick up a pro as long as they are in stock. $250 for a HD console with 60GB HDD = win.

And if you like those 2 franchises, you would most certainly like Mass Effect and Left 4 Dead as well.

Furthermore I would recommend you to buy a Wii next year with the release of Zelda. The wii could be $200 by then and you can get Zelda.

So the next console seller might be

  • Gran Turismo 5
  • Zelda
  • Final Fantasy XIII
  • Halo ODST (Yes, I think it could move some units. Not as much as Halo 3 did, though)

But the biggest console seller will be Project Natal.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

You switched up the theme of this thread pretty quick in that first post.

MGS4 is't a true system seller... I suppose it was a minor system seller though.

A system seller first of all nearly always has to be the first on the system.

Wii Sports is arguable the biggest one of all time now, Mario Bros on the NES was back then. GTA is a huge one, Gran Turismo is pretty big, although Mario Kart is bigger (MK64 managed to outsell the PS1 GTs, and MK:DD had an immense attach ratio for the lowly GameCube)
Wii Fit is a seller too, as well as the obvious and many DS titles (which is why it is doing so incredibly) those being Mario Kart again, Mario Bros again, Nintendogs, Brain Training, the mighty Pokemon... and on DS at least, Animal Crossing.
Halo is a system seller too, I would say up there with Mario Kart.

Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and now Monster Hunter are system sellers in Japan (in the same way that GTA/Halo are only system sellers in the West)

ANd what you said at the end about Halo is wrong.... Halo 3 was a big system seller, so while another Halo on the X360 will not make anywhere near the system selling impact, that doesn't stop Halo as a franchise being a system seller (as a theory, Halo 4 coming out on the next MS console would be a system seller)

MGS4 was big, it made some great things for PS3, PS3 would't have been the same of there was no MGS4 of it would have gone multiplat, MGS4 was the only big reason to get a PS3. As I remember PS3 >360 since MGS4 released, but MS counter it with a pricedrop. Just for the MGS4 effect.

Is this some kind of competition to get the most "MGS4"s into a reply?

Besides the Ps3 was outselling the X360 before MGS4 as well: http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii&reg1=All&cons2=PS3&reg2=All&cons3=X360&reg3=All&start=39537&end=40055

What I see, is a PS3 outselling X360 by about 50k or 25-30%.... GTAIV as a platform seller had been working it's magic long before this of course, but in the run up to GTAIV the X360 caught up somewhat and they were selling roughly even (though PS3 still in the lead)... GTA players are majority casual PS2 owners (ie last gen had a PS2 with just 3 games, all of them GTA) and as such the X360 recieved a better boost because it was a cheaper way to get GTAIV. Metal Gear Solid 4 came out with a "last chance to get a Backward compatible PS3" model, and managed to spike PS3 sales with a short lasting effect for a couple of weeks.... After MGS4's 2nd week, the PS3 was already doing comparitively worse at outselling X360 as it was before GTAIV (about 40-45k or 25%)

That is not system seller material.... you can generally tell a system seller by the fact that the game at least makes an attempt at 10 million sales... usually succeeding.
