Forums - General - What do you think of uncontacted tribes?

Or uncontacted peoples. I was watching a video on aboriginals that had little or no contact with the rest of the world. There land in the forests or Brazil and Ecuador were being torn down by loggers (is that what you call them?) And there were those pictures taken of an uncontacted tribe shooting arrows at a plane.

I find it so amazing that there are still people out there who don't even know that there is T.v or computers soccer, mcdonalds etc.. They shouldbe left alone though, they have been put through enough. What do you think of them?

Contacting them would pretty much instantly kill three quarters of their population, so leave them for sure.

If it was possible to introduce all the beneficial elements of modern civilisation without bringing all the negatives then they should be brought into the 21st century. However I think any attempts to bring modernity to such people would be royally screwed up.

One thing's for sure: if we are having protests over the destruction of the Orangutan's habitat then we should be having the same social uprising over destroying the habitats of these tribes. Displacing these tribes through habitat distruction and forcing them to integrate among populations elsewhere will be an even bigger disaster than the well meaning introduction of the modern world to these tribes in their own environment.

“The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.” - Bertrand Russell

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."

Jimi Hendrix

i think is pretty sad they have no idea whats really going on outside of there tribe

I think we should introduce them to our utopia of syphilis, big brother and fast food restaurants.

OT: I would quite like to ask what these people, who have no working knowledge of the outside world, think about certain aspects and beliefs of our civilisation, things like religion, war, science, philosophy, conspiracy theories. I bet they come out with some enlightening (or just plain bizarre) suggestions.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

If they found out about our civilisation they would probably feel sorry for us... until we destroyed them for that little bit more land that is. :P
