Forums - Sales - 150k PS3 Slim sold first week in Japan

Nice, though the sellthrough vs stock suggests that the stock wasn't sold out, which will make for a significant dropoff next week, though still good. I'd expect week 2 to bring another 75k units, week 3 to get down to 40k, and then a steady stream through the holidays for 20-30k until January.

You forgot 250k for the week including December 17....

n some good weeks of around 40 -50k for ToV, Beyonetta n Tekken 6.

So tales of vesperia wont help hold off the drop in hardware sales?

150,000 units in only a couple days!

wow, a lot of so called "experts" at this forum at looking FOOLISH right now. Ppl here would crucify you for predicting PS3's numbers too high if you even said 100,000!

Very good for Sony. I wonder what Nintendo is thinking in Japan right now :-p

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I'm a sony fan and I was only guessing about 50k for PS3. I didn't think it could even do 75k. 150k is just too high.

Well yeah, I think I meant to say until the holiday season, then a normal big jump during holiday sales. My bad, it was early , and its my day off =)

LEO - Hard to say, Tales games aren't exactly known to be huge. Its not going to shore up sales dropoffs like MGS4 did, unless they make a bundle with ToV.

Hmmm with the amount of momentum that the PS3 will have it can very well reach 4-5M in Japan by March 2010.

Tekken 6 and Tales of Vesperia will give it a nice bump. So Will Final Fantasy XIII and if released this Year Gran Turismo 5.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Finally, this will make Nintendo reconsider their strategy... maybe?

PS3 may catch up and even pass the Wii soon in yearly sales. And they are both priced closer now, so there's no doubt PS3 sales will affect Wii sales at least a bit.

Price cut for Nintendo now, unless they want to be relegated to the second place in weekly sales for a long time. FFXIII launching this year will be marking a very close year for both.
