Capcom gauging interests on remastered PS2 ports

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening cover.

God of War Collection was announced earlier this week for the Playstation 3. The remastered port will contain the original God of War and God of War II with anti-aliasing, high-definition resolutions, 60 frames per second and added trophy support.

Apparently, the announcement raised some eyebrows over at Capcom as the publisher is gauging interests from fans on possible remastered Playstation 2 ports of Capcom games for the Playstation 3. Christian Svensson, the Corporate Officer and Vice-president of Strategic Planning & Business Development for Capcom, made the following statement on the Capcom-Unity forums when asked if they would do something akin to what Sony is doing with the God of War Collection:

I'll be first in line for the God of War collection.

I don't want anyone reading this the wrong way (as I'm not saying anything like this could happen) but I'm seeing some interested for DMC to get this treatment... are there other titles you'd like see go this way? I'm looking for some temperature readings.

Capcom hasn’t been exactly shy at porting games from one system to another before. If the God of War Collection ends up selling well on the Playstation 3, don’t be surprised if they follow in Sony’s footsteps.

as long as its 2 games on 1 disk remastered in hd with trophie support then thats a good idea. if its 1 game only, it wouldnt work out to well.

Sounds REALLY GOOD, but damn them... NO DMC!!! GIVE US CHAOS OF THE LEGIONS!

Thank god other publishers are seeing the awesomeness The GOW Collection started.

i think they will go ahead and make some.

dev costs will be minimal, and could give them a good return. 2 games remastered on 1 disk is a good prospect for a ps3 user.

good example, ff10 and ff 10-2 on one disk with trophie and remastered in hd. the list is endless

And the milking, begins!!!!!!

I would like FFX and X-2 on one disc and remastered for PS3, though.

I think there would be plenty consumer interest in remastered PS2 games. I believe we will see some releases from Capcom and others (cmon Square) because, as you stated, it would be fairly cheap to do and I think there could be a really big response from consumers.

It seems like a no-brainer to me.

capcom... not much interested there but let say... xenogears, or parasite eve... now we got something

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

as above, games that have some kind of link would be ideal candidates, like the ff10 and ff10-2

dmc 1 2 and 3

mgs 2 and 3, with mgs1 unlocked after completing both games.

I think this is sonys answer to having no bc in the ps3 if god of war sells well I can see a lot more companies jumping on board

I hope good things come from this.
