Forums - PC - Would this computer be good for gaming?

ok what does that mean.... if you must use a computer to game just run bootcamp. it completely destroys the purpose of having a mac but it'll play all the games just fine.....

Apple is one of the worst companies in the world when it comes to putting a lowsy graphics card in an otherwise great computer.

you are absolutely 100% with a shadow of a doubt right and for that my friend a cookie is in your future.

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

If you're actually planning on spending about $3,300 on a pre-built gaming system and all the user support an OEM system provides, I'd highly recommend taking a look at a Falcon Northwest system.

While their premium "dream" systems can run into the five figures, they start as low as $1,500 for their Core i7 based Talon systems.

If you have the cash and you want the best, Falcon Northwest quality is pretty much second to none.

$3,300 would buy the following configuration (factory overclocked, warranty covered):

Talon (standard chassis, black)
1000w modular PSU

ASUS P6T Deluxe mobo

Core i7 920 (standard heatsink/fan)

3x2 GB 1333 DDR3 RAM

2x GTX 275

RAID 0 mode 2x1 TB HDD
22xDVD+/- RW
LG Blu-Ray RW & DVD+/- RW
Windows Vista Home Premium/Windows 7 upgrade
1 year warranty, parts and service

Fatality gaming headset
Logitech G15 keyboard
Logitech G9 mouse
Logitech X-240 speakers
24" 1920x1200 display

Here, I'll break it down for you.

Performance & Quality
Buy Alienware

Performance & Cost
Buy Dell or HP

Simple as that, if you really want to throw down the money, go with Alienware, but you can get the same performance without the LED lights for alot less.

Sorry mah boi, but alienware isnt quality at all. First, it's not that upgradable. Second, every part you choose will be the less costy one for them. Third, they always put in a cheap motherboard.

Aside the look of the case, don't go with Alienware/Dell. Like the other dude said, Asus ownz if you want something of quality since they spec everything and it looks fine.

Or wait for Windows 7.

Wait a few weeks, there are new (much faster) graphics cards and you can get Core i7 performance cheaper with Lynnfield. And Windows 7.

But if you must have one now I can spec you an awesome gaming PC (will play almost all games except Crysis on High to Max settings at 1600x1200) for under $500. Probably $450.

Don't go with any PC manufacturer, build one yourself - the savings can be enormous, especially on high-end builds (I saved a grand over Dell's price a month and a half ago building it myself, for example).
