I mean I have it a week now and just seem to be getting nowhere.

Yet I just cant put it down.

I keep heading off somwhere unknowen to myself.

Spend hours there and then I eventually go back to where I should be.

I have to admit RPG games are not my thing usually.

tried a few but just could not get into them.

Yet something about this game keeps me wanting to play it.

It is hard and frustrating but quite addictive.

So I was wondering has anyone felt the same about it.

Also if I were to get into it (which I am) would other RPG games open up to me.

I am a shooter man myself so this is new to me.

I would be interested to hear views from more experienced RPG fans.

Either way this is a special game IMHO.

The DLC is great as well...I didn't get the Pitt, but I got Anchorage for the Gauss Rifle...and it was a cool DLC, and I also got Broken Steel ofcorse...I've got Point Lookout, but I've not gotten to head into yet...I've been sucked in Champions of late.  I'm not too keen on Mothership though...it jsut doesn't "Feel" right for me.  But...in general...The DLC for this game did an amazing job to keep my interest nearly a year later!

Borderland and Rage will also get some wasteland love from me.

@reask

great game... keep going.

Somehow I reckon I will.

Something about it feels special.

I mean I spent 4 hours tonight doing something that ended up going nowhere but I reckon it will stand to me at some stage.

the game is vast in scope it would appear.

So fu***ng frustrating at times though.

@ heruamon.
Wow I reckon it will be a while before I get dlc stuff.
I will be months finishing this by the looks of it. lol.
Thanks for the heads up.

I didn't quite get into Fallout 3 till about 50+ hours playthough then I just got sucked in.. just wait till you managed to reach the Mall thats when things heat up :p

Although there were some peculiar bugs that plagued the game, I thoroughly enjoyed Fallout 3. I concur with you; there is something special about this game.

its a WRPG. WRPGs are all about exploration and discovery.
you probably first played JRPGs right? those are limited to the exploration part but are more character based. (im not going to say story driven cause both got good stories, it just a matter of taste.)

What is a jrpg?

What is a wrpg?

I am not been smart btw.

jrpg... japanese rpg
wrpg... western rpg

normally those differ as mentioned in your quote

someone in this thread said, if u like fallout 3 go get Oblivion. I dont think so, more than once i heard somebody saying he/she liked one but not the other.

edit: including myself. I loved Fallout 3, disliked Oblivion

Keep at it, you'll find yourself making progress slowly but steadily.

There's just something about the setting, and the ability to just head for the horizon, that is terribly appealing about Fallout 3.

I spent ages wandering around before finally actually trying to get anywhere with quests, etc.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Jrpg= Japanese role playing game

Wrpg=Western role playing game

The main difference is that Jrpgs didn't change as much as Wrpgs from their ancestor(Console Rpg.) In the  80s the two genres were pretty much the same. What happened though, was that Jrpgs headed toward a strategy route while Wrpgs headed toward Action-Adventure. Lately though Jrpgs have been getting into the Action genre.  So basically WRPGs=Action Adventure, Jrpgs= Turn Based Strategy or Action game. This is only gameplay we are talking about though. We can get into other areas such as story, but that doesn't matter when distinguishing genres.
