Forums - Gaming - So when does Final Fantasy X pick up a little bit?

@Zen

PLEASE STOP.....SHUSH!

leave the surprises for Khuutra now

@khuutra

I suggest you take mine & zen's opinion & got back to playing the game before people start handing out spoilers like lay's crisps

I felt the same when I played NMH for the first time. It turns out that it picks up when you are intersted on the game.

It picks up when you start battling more seriously and have the full party and exploration options. For me, it starts being really good after Luca, when you can do everything (and also play Blitzball freely!). Everything before is just the intro

That part should be....I dunno...4 hours?

I appreciate the elucidation and all, but please refer to the first line of the OP. If this turns into an argument about FFXII, I'm going to blame you personally.

Damnit, now I'm curious!

FFX becomes great after the Luca events and you step foot on Mihen Highroad

It doesn't.

Short answer: this.

Longer answer: it picks up but it really doesn't pick up enough to care.  If you're already bothered by the things you're being bothered by they don't get any better.

-edit-

And don't get me wrong, the game is worth playing, just don't expect a roller coaster ride.

Ure only 90 mins in?

Trust me any long RPG takes a while to get use to everything and into the story, it'll pick up eventually you still have another 30 - 40 hours left lol

It's a great game and has a wonderful and sad ending and it's recommended that you finish it.

I've never been a believer in the "it picks up after so and so hours" thing - in my experience, it isn't true for games in general, and it damn sure isn't true for this series.

But I'll go back to playing, now, and find out.

hell everything before Luca is just a introduction phase

FFX story rise remains at the same pace and feel throughout the whole game. I don't recall too many "OH SNAP" moments or the game ramping up in engaging story-telling.

The end has an interesting twist to say the least, but the final boss music sucked....bad. At least in my case.

The gameplay is good though. The Sphere Grid is interesting and I always liked progressing on it. Blitzball can be addicting at times and I spent about 20% of my total play time (75 hours) just doing that. The sidequests like "capturing" monster information is cool too, but I returned the game before I could see all the benefits of it.

Choose early on how you want to level your characters, and which ones should receive the most attention.
