Casuals and Hardcore's really exist.

I never knew the words to have a negative connotation.

The words are almost always used in an elitist fashion. ^

The funny thing is that most of the games that most "hardcore gamers" say are "hardcore" are actually quite casual.

the only reason there is an argument about the meaning is because it is in nintendo's and their fans best interest that there is.

grow a pair and admit your love casual, there is nothing wrong with that.

But also in Sony and Microsoft's interests. How else do they make themselves seem more desirable than to dissociate themselves from the unclean games? Though Sony and MS never debate context thus, they would have an interest in wanting their games to appear "hardcore" especially since the kind of games that they are touting as hardcore now, were derided but one generation ago as "mainstream" games, by the elitists of the time. Once, there was nothing more base than declaring yourself to be a Halo/GTA/Madden gamer, and while Madden is still iffy in that regard, now GTA and Halo are up on that pedestal of hardcore games, in an effort to try and separate themselves from Nintendo's vision of mainstream gaming

The argument is basically a moving target
