But also in Sony and Microsoft's interests. How else do they make themselves seem more desirable than to dissociate themselves from the unclean games? Though Sony and MS never debate context thus, they would have an interest in wanting their games to appear "hardcore" especially since the kind of games that they are touting as hardcore now, were derided but one generation ago as "mainstream" games, by the elitists of the time. Once, there was nothing more base than declaring yourself to be a Halo/GTA/Madden gamer, and while Madden is still iffy in that regard, now GTA and Halo are up on that pedestal of hardcore games, in an effort to try and separate themselves from Nintendo's vision of mainstream gaming
