Sony have really raised the bar with what we expect in terms of quality releases per year for our home console.
With an absolutely stellar lineup of games for 2008 and 2009, what can we expect for 2010?

Starting with the obvious confirmed games that we know are coming, and I'll leave none of the multi-platform games here because they are available for all gamers to enjoy! :)

Heavy Rain

From the unique developers of omikron(a highly overlooked game..) and indigo prophecy(farienheit) comes a psychological thriller based on incredibly deep story telling and state of the art visuals. Not only does this game push what is expect in terms of an intellectual gaming experience, it pushes the graphics and technology bar far beyond what has ever been considered possible for this generation of consoles.

Massive Action Game: The Shadow War

From Zipper Interactive, the developers that brought us the legendary system seller for the PS2 and the best online experience for tactical shooters at the time, SOCOM II. Zipper Interactive made probably the best shooter for the PS2. This game was phenominal and was the most intelligent skill requiring shooter of that generation. With 256 players, massive worlds, huge ranking options, customizable loadouts, gear, looks, squads and factions, MAG is looking to be the best online shooter experience to date on a console. It pushes what is possible for online gaming on consoles far beyond what anyone ever expected.

God Of War 3

As if this game needs to be announced. God of War 3 is the final episode of the god of war trilogy. Set to rip and tear every other action game ever created apart single handedly and be more badass than Kratos has ever been. Stunning visuals and lighting again seem impossible for consoles. We don't know much, but we do know that this is more than likely going to be game of the year for 2010 by a lot of publications. This game is already awesome and it isn't even out yet. I need not say more. GOD OF WAR 3.

AGENT

By the legendary Rockstar North developers AGENT is set to be a love letter to the PlayStation family, where GTA and rockstar became who they are today. Not much is known about AGENT as of yet, except for the setting. This game will be the first exclusive HD game from rockstar this generation and will not be held back by constraints of a multi-platform engine. Expect this game to bring massive amounts of fame and glory to the PlayStation 3. We do not know a whole lot about the release date, but a recent post from Rockstar said it's coming in 2010."“Agent takes players on a paranoid journey into the world of counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations during the height of the Cold War at the end of the 1970s"

The Last Guardian(Expected 2010)

From the legendary Developers of Ico and Shadow of the collossus comes The Last Guardian. This stunning visual masterpiece will surely be an emotional ride for all. Yet again Team Ico is set to smash the walls of emotional boundaries and bring the most breathtaking heart touching (and wrenching...) gaming experience available, only on the playstation 3. The visuals and environments in this game appear to far transcend anything we've ever seen on a console, and even out does Heavy Rain for graphics.

ModNation Racers

A kart style game akin to Mario Kart, harnesses vehichle customization that rivals Forza 3 with tracking design and creation that exceeds anything available on consoles. This is the second installment of Sony's new "Play Create Share" line of games that is going to be a critical darling and a blast to play for all types of gamers.

Quantum

Not a whole lot is known about Quantum, but it appears to be the PS3's answer to the gritty 3rd person gears of war. Bosting improved visuals over its 360 counterpart and 2 player full game co-op the game appears to be coming along well. The game has a lot of polish to go through before its march release, but expect this to be fun and enjoyable. Developed by team Team Tachyeon, a development team with members from the Fatal Frame game design team. More to come when this game releases more info.

Final Fantasy XIV

The MMO sequel to Final Fantasy XI, currently a ps3 console exclusive, and most certainly will be one at launch. Not much is known, but it's shaping up to be a spectacular gaming experience, especially for those that enjoyed ffxi.

3d Dot Heroes

A new game from From Software, looks to be a very fun gaming experience. Old style pixels drawn in HD and with next gen graphics. Zelda style game with 6 player on-line co-op.

Expected/Rumor 2010 releases

Resistance 3 or new IP from Insominac Games (They are a 1 game/year development studio.)

Final Fantasy Versus XIII

inFAMOUS 2 and/or Sly Cooper 4

Killzone 3

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (I do not believe we have a 2009 release date for NA/EU)

Notes to make:

I expect there will be signifcantly more 2010 releases for the PS3 exclusively. Sony are going to be pushing very hard to get more games on the platform over the coming months to keep the steam going on the price cut. Expect new games from development studios like square enix, internal sony devs, rockstar, capcom etc.

Sorry, Nintendo and Microsoft have no HEAVY RAIN. Sony wins!!!
