Forums - Gaming - Top 5 graphics engines in 2009 IN YOUR OPINION

Alan Wake isn't a 2009 game though. If that were the case, HEAVY RAIN would have been my UNDISPUTED champ, as I've seen NOTHING that looks better than that.

If all you were concerned with was prettiness, then why didn't you just call the thread (best looking games top 5 in 2009 in your opinion) and left it at that?

Tease.

Around the Network

1.Uncharted's engine
2.Killzone 2 engine
3.Gran turismo 5 engine
4.Modern warfare2 engine
5.Resident evil 5 engine

there is no game with this one, but I believe Cryengine 3 is the most impressive gaming engine I've seen for consoles so far.

Um , what? You make no sense....

The quality of an engine goes beyond how a game looks. The one feature you seem interested in is how a game looks and not how the engine behind it performs (correct me if im wrong here).

Sorry but people putting Killzone 2 in their lists are nuts,

Yes, the game looked amazing in places but any game engine with serious lag control issues should NOT be in a "top game engines" thread, I could say the same for Halo 3 as that has pretty bad lag,

This list should be about top graphics engines, how they look AND perform...

Actually Halo 3 was 100ms (measured by digital foundry) which according to him is about as good as a 30FPS game with a wireless controller is gonna get.

the trouble with killzone 2's engine is how specialized it is how specialised it is and how much time must be spent optimising everything 5+ years people with a very big team. some of that was the PS3's architecture but still

I heard that Infernal Engine is pretty awesome >_>

Is that the same Engine used for the PS3 version of Ghost Busters?

I think that the Killzone 2 engine is shite! (Sorry, but 166ms latency is NOT acceptable for a 30FPS game with frame drop).

2. Capcoms framework (works brilliantly on 3 platforms and runs magnificently)

Wow... Wasn't that the same engine used in DMC4?? A game with a 5GB 22minute install on PS3?? Horribly jagged shadows, and alot of reused levels?

Oh wait.... 2009... I have to use RE5... not DMC4.... which still had a 5Gb install, was on a smaller scale than KZ2, and lighting that couldn't compete with killzone2...

EDIT: Just noticed the "In your opinion in the title"... never mind...

Actually, Killzone 2's engine performed quite well.

But was "quite well" good enough? less control lag would have certainly made me keep the game, wonder if anyone else felt the same?
