Forums - Nintendo - Am I the only person who owns a wii and doesn't want NSMBW?

@mortono That has nothing to do with the point I was arguing against. I was arguing against those that argue that the game will be toned down or "casualized" because of co-op. That means that it won't target the "core". I agree with your point that co-op can expand the audience. What I'm arguing against is the idea that it would exclude the pre-existing audience in the process.

Well in that case I agree with you.

Although casual players play competitive games. Wii Sports sure isn't about co-op.

You have blown my entire argument to shreds. Blast!

4-player side scrolling rules.

Little Big Planet is way better in multiplayer than single player. So that pretty much disproves this whole theory.

If anything looking at the E3 stages, the 4-player aspect has made the levels much bigger and more vast than NSMB on the DS, so I think it's win-win for everyone even if you're just playing it as a 1-player game.

Shame on every pseudo "HARDCORE" teenager gamer who criticize this game, this is the first console true-Mario 2D plattformer in more than a decade with the option of 4 players simultaneously, come one! Mario games have always been revolutionary and one of the funniest experiences, this will be no exception

Sure... but do you get to shoot anyone?

Co-op IS a casual feature. It allows inexperienced gamers to join their more core friends to work together and beat the game. Plus just the idea of playing with a group of people is something that would be more attractive to a "casual" gamer (i.e. casual gamers don't tend to like playing games alone). So yes, this is a casual feature, but that doesn't mean it can't appeal to hardcore gamers as well.

This is a lucid and well-reasoned explanation, thank you, though I find the implication that this could be a bad thing to be heinous.

That said, the person of whom I asked the question insists that co-op is not casual. So my question to him remains.

It is actually a really bad explanation.

Ever seen a "casual" join in with three hardcore gamers and get totally owned at Mario Kart?
