I think it's very important that Forza 3 gets a higher Metacritic rate than GT5. Because when it gets outsold by GT5 you can make a good argument that at least it's the better game.
But if GT5 get a higher Meta, it's a 2-0 victory for Sony fans.

Time to Work !
GT5 is considerably bigger and will most likely have a much better physics engine.
Plus, GT5 has NASCAR (meh) and WRC (hurah).
Bets are GT5 will beat Forza 3. However, will the games actually be reviewed side by side? Probably not, so a metacritic comparison probably won't show much. After all, if they did, how do Wii 'games' gets above 40...

I don't know about that. The cell may be more capable of physics calculations, but that doesn't automatically mean that its engine is the best. Since Turn 10 has access to that crazy F1 simulator that suggests that the engine will be more robust for F3. What the xbox manages to do with it remains to be seen, so the safest course of action remains, as always, to wait and see.
Early indications are that both games have pretty visuals and reasonably advanced simulation models, so for single console owners they are pretty good substitutes for each other. I just don't see 360 owners going out and buying a PS3 to play GT5, or the other way around. GT5 sales will most likely be higher due to the legacy of the franchise, but I think that F3 will still perform adequately.

I realize I'm about a month late to posting to this, as it looks like this thread is dead in the water,
but I think people aren't taking certain things into consideration..
Gran Turismo 4 was the second GT game on the PS2 so when review scores plummeted and sales followed suite that is understandable and expected. Forza is about to be put to the same test that GT had previously "failed", but because of this it is short sighted to think Forza 2 will have no influence on the sales of Forza 3 in a negative light. GT has the "fresh" advantage going for it in both the sales and the reviews aspects. Considering Polyphony made the bogus claim of being a mare 65% complete, I think this was to buy time so they can see what Turn 10 puts out and make certain that theirs will top it. Sony is about the long term and Microsoft about the short term, and they are both playing right into eachothers hands, Microsoft wants to make sure Forza 3 will capitalize on market sales NOW, thats all they care about, on the other side of the coin, all Sony cares about is being able to say "Gran Turismo 5 is only possible on the Playstation 3". Admittedly it is a little petty of them, but they are willing to keep shelling out money to Polyphony for the sole purpose of being able to make that claim. Microsoft isn't about to play the waiting game with Sony because it knows its wallet can't outlast theirs.
I'm not discrediting Forza 3 at all, it will be a beautifully great game, but Sony won't let Polyphony let Forza 3 be better than Gran Turismo 5.
THEY ALREADY HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY INVESTED IN GRAN TURISMO 5 FOR IT NOT TO BE ANOTHER "BRAGGING RIGHT".
i think forza 3 will score in the 90-95 range and gt 5 will score in the 90-100 gt5 is a significant upgrade from gt 4 i felt gt4 was kind off a downgrade from gt3 gt5 has online now and damage and alot more features i cant see it losing in sales and in reviews

The first Gran Turismo game for the PSX got a metacritic of 96, the first one for PS2
"Gran Turismo 3: A-spec" got a 95, if GT5 follows this trend it will get a 94 metacritic score, which I think is in the realm of possibility. First Forza for Xbox got a 92, first Forza for 360 got a 90, judging by Gran Turismo's past experiences, the second games on a console always faired WORSE than the first. If this is any indication Forza 3 will score even lower than 90. Gran Turismos first time releasing a second game on a console the score dropped 3 points, I'm predicting Forza 3 will follow suite, with a Metacritic score of 87. We have to remember there is only so much demand for racing sims, so the reviewers and the market could conceivably already have had their racing sim fill and may both be more stubborn to Forza this time around, as they have been to Gran Turismo in the past. So my predictions for sales and metacritic scores Gran Turismo 5: 94 Forza 3: 87, Gran Turismo 5: 12.5m Forza 3: (No basis for a number)
