Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS3 Version Of FFXIII Downgraded Due To 360

Threads like this one is why Final Fantasy XIII should be a Wii exclusive.

Um no. It would turn into a FFCC type game, and every single one of those sucks.

you know, after looking at the PS3 CE3 demos, I wouldn't be surprised if it's true because the 360's total power is weaker.

i think it would be more about space.

doubt a rpg is enough to tax up tri core ppc cpu.

Here are 360 version screenshotsa of FF13. OP has just hid under a table.

That first picture is the same picture they showed back in 2006 when there was no 360 version. I wouldn't use that as an example...

Enough of this.

Are you still standing by those initial screenshots posted earlier in the thread?

Why?

CGI, check this out. Those shots aren't evidence. There are tons of variables that all of us are completely ignorant about, and clinging to them in the face of evidence to the contrary makes you seem like an ideologue, who is not attempting to understand the other side of the argument.

What we have learned so far is this:

1. Those screens initially posted aren't the final screenshots of the game.

2. The screens from 360 gameplay posted on most sites on the internet seem to indicate that the game looks much better than said cherrypicked shot indicates.

3. We are uncertain of the timeframe of the original screenshots in question, even to the point of which one was released first, due to the demo that Garnett pointed out.

4. we are unaware of the hardware from which either of those screens are pulled. We don't know that the games won't look better/worse depending on the console you buy them for. Many PS3 games look worse on the PS3. Perhaps XIII will look better.

5. We don't even know if they are both gameplay.

6. As the MGS4 mention pointed out, developers will often released worse looking screens later in the development cycle. Often, like with MGS4, those worse looking screens look better when the game is finally polished. Sometimes they don't, and sometimes the original screens were prerendered promises that were never possible, or bullshots.

What we don't know, could fill an ocean, and clinging to those shots as absolute evidence, to bash Square about the game isn't fair.

Check this out. I'm VERY glad FFXIII is on the 360 More people will get to play the game. I wish it was on the Wii as well. I don't care what sacrafices they have to make. A great game is a great game, and hair texture doesn't change that. Furthermore, to wish that a game would have stayed exclusive simply because it would give you a slightly better experience is ultimately selfish. The only valid reason one would want this game exclusively, that isn't selfish, is because its exclusivity would have been a huge boon for Sony, and a dagger in the heart of Microsoft. Instead those tables have turned, and now, you wish the game would have stayed exclusive, and feel very bitter over its refusal to do so.

I understand that.

What I don't understand, is this childish selfiishness that makes people feel they have the right to whine, because they had to give up something relatively insignificant, so that 30 million people would have the right to share the fun they are experiencing with the most anticipated game this generation.

Without some sort of Sony fandom going on in one's head, those thoughts are so selfish, they are sickening to me.

That said, there is nothing to be done. I've had my way, and I'm done. The game is coming out on the Xbox 360, and you can take it for what it is, or you can skip it, but I doubt you will. Just live well in the knowning that millions more people will derive happiness because of this move, than will loathe it.

All this little screenshot boulstering, as ignorant as we are about their origins, proves nothing, except out own ignorance. I suggest we give it a rest.

You realize that all of that was useless, this pic is CGI and it's from 2006 at that. That was my main point...

Cmon CGI. That pic claimed to be the 360 version, doesnt even come close t this gameplay footage of the 360 version. Here take a look. Very clear to see more detail on Lightning.

That original pic is a CGI from the original PS3 version. I know, I still have the vid from 2006 saved on my PS3 HDD...

I was reffering to the pic in the OP. Not what I posted. :)

When you look at IGN or Gamspot E3 coverage, they said 360 version looked identical to PS3. As you can see in the gameplay footage. 360 version has loads more detail than the pic in OP of claimed 360 version. The pic in OP is confirmed as 2006 footage put on a DVD. So how is this thread still going?

Because most PS3 owners don't complain about graphical downgrading. It is content that worries them. (No JP VA, 720p cutscenes etc.)

Edit: I removed that huge pic to little reduce this quote monster.

Around the Network

I can kind of understand PS3 owners on this concerning cut out FMV(replaced by in game graphic cut scenes) and perhaps some content beeing locked after DVD3 but ... designing games with limitations is nothing new to S-E, in fact it's nothing new to any developer. I'm convinced that FFXIII will be a great game.

Why are people assuming the restrictions wouldn't be there on PS3? Why did MGS4 need an install after every act?

Well that was a long thread. FF for me ended after FFX. Never got back into it, as for these comparisons... well after reading 34 pages in the last hour - who-ever brought in this thread FF7 being on 3 discs needs to get back in their box...as FF7 was for the PS1 only and has no relevance here.

If it ever were true that the game has been clipped to fit on another system then that is just short changing the people who own the system that could have done more.

I can't see why they didn't have the 360 and PS3 as seperate project builds rather than One version fits all systems. Probably comes down to money as with many games these days now.

Still FF went off my radar almost 9 years ago, when it went all girly and that.

Still reflecting on this they could have put some special content of equal value in both systems while still doing what they could for each. Like that Star Wars game where you could play Light or Dark side ect...

Personally I'd never buy this game as the Idea of download content for both systems kills me as it was NEVER that way to get everything out of a FF game.

Good to see this site is still going

I dont care, the most important is its coming to Xbox 360 and can give good sales for the game, in west.

Selnor you have to be joking, you used a low quality ign video and compared it to a high quality G4 video... on youtube
