@kirby

Mikeb is far more subtle (sly) than that.

Will you stop with this character assassination please?

Reported for provocation.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

so carl... does this mean sony reports sold through to consumers?

I dont really follow these sales threads, but why not?

Until ioi comes in and sees the thread and gives his thoughts on it, i have no reason to doubt what Sony say.

Il wait and see what the bossman says, as he has way more knowledge on the sales than probably anyone else on the site.

@ joeorc

And so what if VGC is wrong, is that such a bad thing. no one is perfect

I agree, I think VGChartz wants to be as accurate as possible.

ioi and especially some fanboys (like the one posting above) did seem a bit upset, about my opinion there is an error somewhere looking at the global picture.

I said a retailer told me they usually have fewer PS3s in stock at a time due to the fat model's larger boxes to store. Also considering there were 3 different 360 models I think the 360 was more in stock worldwide than the PS3. He also said that's going to change with the slim model.

So I said using the same criteria it seems strange the PS3 would have 1.1 million yet to be sold PS3s on the market vs 0.6 million XBox 360 at the end of June when putting the figures together.

I think sharing such an opinion on a sales website is far from trolling or otherwise wrong/malicious. But this thread isn't directly related to that one, just some interesting information from SCEE worthwile discussing.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

This is the weirdest thread... I really don't understand a lot of the comments and where they're coming from...

Isn't the thread supposed to be about how people thought SONY used numbers sold to retails but they actually use numbers sold to consumers?

At least for SCEE anyway.

MikeB still hasnt given his real view on this thread and VGC numbers....

But fair enough.... I shall consider myself soundly scolded.

To be honest, his view is not necessary.  It can actually be better in cases like this to simply let the information speak for itself.

@darthtigris

and what does the information tell us?

The information tells us that both the 360 and PS3 are undertracked on VGC.

What we don't know is whether the information is accurate.

If it is true, it's probably only hardware, Sony aren't going to track ALL of their games.

Since when is Spong a credible source of information?

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

My thoughts exactly. When I want to post an editorial I'll do that, but the subject of this thread isn't "MikeB", it's "SCEE".

I can always share my views in follow-up replies just like anyone else.
