Dissidia: Final Fantasy, that came mad like crack to me, i've played 6 hours straight since it came out and thats not good... so my mum finally helped me put a stop to it today and we put it on a really tall shelf haha...

Anyways now that i've set my lust for Dissidia Aside... for now... i finally wanted to see how the new 3.0 Firmware update was on PS3, i haven't even looked at my PS3 or 360 eversince Dissidia came out so might as well...

And to be honest i thought 3.0 was cool alone with the new Backrounds that move ever so freely and the new really, Really sexy magical like sparkles they added to the new original backround but... in spite of all this sexyness there were some horrors for any PS3 gamer to realize....

+ New Shiny Sparkles.

+ Icons Bigger. (I enjoy this it was still abit to small IMO even in HD display though it doesn't look as fancy anymore... >_>)

+ New Themes that look better and sound better.

+ Overall faster even trophies and friends list are much more faster.

+ "Whats New" looks really nice, very well thought of.

+ Loving the new loading icon looks more styleish versus the original bubble.

+ Finally the battery doesn't eclipse the clock/date/loadtime icon.

- Some new internet browser issues that are very off-putting.

- Big Icons R Big.

- PLAYSTATION 3 Launch screen is GONE!!! No more "Dada Ding" when ya start a game! when you start a game! MAJOR let down here.

- When it starts up it says "PS3" instead of SCE, And the fancy violen music is GONE!

- PlayStation Home seems... abit slower or something now.

- Still no Cross Voice Chat. Major flaw here.

In Conclusion Sony took a big step forward... but took a half step back... Hmm now im depressed... wheres that Dissidia again? >_>

I got used to the gray bricks. Kinda like them now. The font I'm ok with, but I do miss the old size.

As for my personal opinion...

Likes:

• Faster loading of friends list, trophies, icons on the PS Store, etc.
  
  
• Faster web browser.
  
  
• Defocusing of background content.  It makes the transitioning between layers smoother.
  
  
• Sparkles.
  
  
• The concept of animated themes.  I haven't found any I like yet, though.
• The new speed test when testing your connection.

Dislikes:

• Gigantic font.  I'm not an old lady.  If nothing else, at least give me the option to return to the way I'm used to.
• New friends list. It makes no sense.  Either make the boxes similar to the information bar at the top, or remove them.  At the very least have them serve a purpose other than taking up space.  Hopefully we'll see Trophy information and stuff there eventually.
  
  
• News ticker. Why is it not otpional like the old one?  I don't care about the latest Queen tracks for SingStar.
  5-6 PlayStation Store icons that all lead to the same place.
• "What's New" background loads too quickly, taking you by surprise when scrolling through your icons.  The Home and generic game backgrounds take a bit over a second to load, so they don't pop up on when simply passing by.
• The "What's New" section also takes longer to start a game than the normal icon.  So what's the point?  The background is also kinda ugly, with the blue/grey color. They should make it more like the Store background.

The likes improve the functionality of the system, for the most part, so they outweigh my dislikes, which are mostly cosmetic.  However, I hope Sony fixes this stuff with the inevitable 3.01.

I just hope there aren't any bugs that freeze the PS3. So far my ps3 has frozen 3 times while trying to access XMB bar in game. I just hope it goes away this PS3 is brand new.

But come on, the sparkles are so meh. Luckily you can deactivate it.

I think the sparkles look cool.

While it doesn't kill the experience, I am going to miss the orchestra tuning sound when you turn on the PS3. Otherwise, I wish the font can be turned back to the normal size because I didn't have a problem viewing it before and I do hope that they add some trophy information (as others have wondered) to the friend boxes to fill the extra space in them.

The sparkles really make the update IMO so fancy.
