Ohh slims have Toshiba? And phats have Seagate?

I feel much better having a slim now. Seagate drives are notorious for their high failure rates, which may be why a lot of people (10%?) get YLOD.

For example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148295

@ whoever made the snarky comment about 2 seconds of loading difference: If you play a game 100 times and save 2 seconds each time, this is over 3 minutes of your life saved. These extra 3 minutes could be invaluable while saying goodbye to loved ones on your death bed.

The bottleneck is the Blu-ray not the HDD.

not really as long as redundant data is installed onto the HDD so the Bu-ray reader doesn't have to reread the same texture files over and over like the PS1 and PS2 did.

The bottleneck for installation...not sure.

The bottleneck for gaming is, and has always been the developers understanding of the cell, the ram, and the gpu. Not the cell itself.

I like how you cut out the second half of my post, including evidence.

Well I looked through newegg user reviews and it seems Seagate quality is dropping rapidly from their previous reputation of making quality drives. Unfortunate as that's all I've ever bought when building PCs. The drives I bought for the PC I built last year are still doing okay after 10 months, but from first glance there appears to be some serious quality/reliability issues.

Yeah, since about 2-3years ago they've seriously fallen in QC. Western Digital is now the better choice, by far. (Ironic...I have a seagate HDD in my PC).
