Forums - General - i quit my job at gamestop

and im glad. it was a piece of shit company to work for. i urge all you guys to stop buying shit from gamestop because theyre assholes. they overcharge everything, and then offer discounts at a price to make it seem like theyre doing you a favor; its bullshit. post your guys' thoughts on gamestop. what do you hate most about them?

honestly, if i had to choose, its how they sell used games as new (which is often, i wouldnt buy something new there unless its shrink wrapped)

i don't hate them, they sale good stuff and affordable price compare to store like walmart and is the only store i go because where i live there is not an EB store near.

I'm trying to think of reasons why you don't mind getting banned so easily......

I am the black sheep     "of course I'm crazy, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong."-Robert Anton Wilson

That's the one thing I really hate about Gamestop. They try to sell me unsealed games. Luckily I've found a good Gamestop near my work. But I do try to buy from Target or Walmart whenever I can.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

@hatmoza, it really doesnt matter i guess.

nightwish - good gamestops are hard to come by. lol

So you quit you're job because you disagree with their pricing?
Damn, Sony must have a staff shortage

When I bought Disgaea 3, it was sitting on the shelf with the shrink wrap still on it. When I brought it to the counter, the guy proceeded to rip open the wrap, take the disc from a drawer, insert it in the case, and use a machine to shrink wrap the case.

I wouldn't buy any ''new'' game from this place unless it's one of the ones in the glass case behind the counter.

There are two Gamestops in Britain, one of them is in my city. I've been in there a few times and every time it just seems like the most backwards games shop in the world, good deals are few and far between, prices are a constant high, they get iffy about trade ins and the staff look really depressed. If it is the same in the USA I don't blame you for quitting.

Pffft... I used to work for Staples as a technician. I felt like a minion for Satan.

*takes deep breath*

So, about a month ago, I came into some extra money and decided I wanted to buy a portable console. I go to the Gamestop in the Augusta Ga mall and look at the PSP games. I see a store clerk who I recognized has worked there for probably a decade. He HAS to know his stuff......right? Anyway, I never considered owning a PSP until that night, and I had no time to do any research.

So I ask the clerk. I say I'm debating whether or not I should buy a DSi or a PSP. DSi, he says, and his eyes light up.

"Well, how good is the DSi web browser?", I ask.

"Oh! It's the best, there is!", He says.

"Is it better than the PSP? I want to go online and watch Youtube, at least."

"No. The PSP doesn't even go online. For Youtube and stuff, you gotta get a DSi! For my money, it's the best there is.", he tells me.

"But......I already own FOUR DS's. And the PSP does go online. It's right here on the box! And I do have a PS3 at home. If the DSi online is as good as you say, I may have to go with it, though. I want to go on the internet at my new job. DVD players and laptops aren't allowed, but video games and iPods are!", I explain.

"Well, if you wanna browse the net, you're going to have to get the DSi. The PSP lets you play online, but it sucks."

And so, I call my PSP owning friend on my cell phone. He tells me about downloading movies from the net to the PSP. He tells me about the browser. He tells me about "remote play". He tells me that, without Remote Play, NEITHER portable can show online video.

Pisses me off that the guy who has worked at Gamestop for a decade (I remember him from early in my relationship. He has a unique/strange face.) doesn't at least know the basics about 50% of the portable market. It makes me wonder if he was getting commission for selling DSi's or something.

I bought a PSP from Wal-Mart.
