Forums - Sony - Looking for an online shooter.

SOCOM is pretty awesome man, I need to start playing again, I have too many games to finish first. Anyway, it's slower paced, 3rd person and there doesn't exist a ranked respawn type match, so it's quite different from the rest of the pack. There are many expert players and they will expect you to learn quick or get rid of you from the game. It will be very hard at first and you will get owned.

After a while though, you learn the maps and game types, how to control recoil and it gets really fun. You have to work as a team and because of the bundle almost everybody communicates with mics. Every kill feels rewarding and you don't want to let the team down. Clans are huge if that's your thing too. Virtually no lag, the rare problem occurs in 32 man matches where someone will lag out after a round but still be in the game, they need to be removed before it continues. Another free update is coming out too, it's still supported. Oh, and online is always full.

I don't know what you've heard of Metal Gear Online, but I've heard a lot. I love the game and I'm pretty much on it every day, if you want/have Metal Gear Solid 4, give it a try.

^_^

Battlefield 1943. It's good fun. Its like warhawk except its an fps.

Why won't you support CoD, they are great games, 4 has the best MP on PS3

It depends what type of game you prefer, Battlefield 1943 is a more arcady shooter, and SOCOM is more tactical, so it depends on what type of game you want

I'd choose BattleField: Bad Company [$19.99] Also, you could try to get a platinum on that if your bored.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

Socom is garbage IMO.

BF43 FTW!

I got battlefield 1943. You can add me to psn if you're interested. inverted3reality.

Go with Socom, it's had many patches since and it's fine now. It's the most played game on the PS3.

Battlefield is cheap for what it is, but at the same time from a technical standpoint it's pretty aweful. Some apparant netcode issues, many animation glitches, camera glitches (the cameras supposed to center from where you were shot from but as the cameras a real physical object it finds itself trying to do so an and then rolling down a hill)

Not to mention how badly balanced 1943 is. Rifleman > All.

Edit: Nevermind - you got Battlefield.

If your options are those two... BattleField...

4 ≈ One

Call of Duty 4, the best fps out of all of those.

I honestly have no interest in the cod games either, I'll never support such a series.

I'll check some other forums on the status of socom, thanks everyone.

Why?  You don't like great series =p?
