The real question is if is that possible for a player to accurately kick a penalty if there's no ball, and your perception of the goalkeeper and net is a 2D representation with no real distance perception...

Motion control is for arcade games.  True 1:1 makes things way more difficult in game than in real life, unless you are inside some sort of virtual reality.

It'd likely work something like the "smart release" in Wii Sports Resort for bowling and Frisby.

If not, they can always release a little ball mat/marker to act as a reference point for the camera and the player (not an actual ball, as that could end badly...).

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

How subtle is the difference in your foot position to kick left or right, high or low.  Even more, you have to make this subtle position with perfect timing to the virtual point the game will count as contact.  It's more difficult to get right than kicking a real penalty.  It's not fun.

Or imagine tenis with 100% 1:1 motion.  In real life you are in a 3D environment that lets you judge the ball speed and trajectory, you can adjust yor body in this 3D environment, exend your arm and make contact with the ball at the exact point in time and space, with the waist orientation so as to hit the ball and put it where you want.  This seems like a complicated process but in real life is second nature.  In a game with a 2D screen, it just doesn't work.

Ok maybe the frisby can :)  but that's the as simple as it gets example, where the player needs no references at all and no other objects to interact with.

Is that possible to reproduce a penalty accuratelly on Natal's camera?

The camera is said to work only at 30 fps - I'm not shure about this number - and that's a little low to detect a kick motion isn't it?

No lol.

What I asked is if the 30 fps camera can track accuratelly track a kick motion such as a penalty.

We have saw in the E3 and post E3 videos that the camera sometime fails to track some more quick motions. there are some videos on youtube about that and the obvious avatar seizure (but that's due to be in beta state yet)

Just picked up from the question you wrote, my post wasn't really an answer to your post.

all what I wish is that I don't kick the TV !

I still can't believe that neither natal or eye have any kind of analog thumbstick.
To me that already limits them to very basic mini games etc.

It makes me realize how well designed the wiimote is though ;)

Yeah youe\r post just above mine made me realise infact that the Wii_Mote is superior and has a superior deign over natal and sony's wand. I was always in favour of the wii and motionplus against the other 2 but now i am even more confident that motion plus is better.

I mean to have a full gaming experince you still need an analog stick which Wii has as well as the 1:1 motion controls which all three have. I agree that MS and Sony have far superiro tech but Wii-Mote and MotionPlus and Nunchuck are far superior controols over Natal and Sony's Wand. And I know I am going to be attacked for sayingthat and the main point people will bring out is that Natal or the wand hasn't even released. But guess what According to right now and the videos and tech demos shown t e3 Motion Plus has proved it can do it and It has a analog stick and 1:1 Montion Controls. Sony's Wand also looks good I just doubt Natal.

MotionPlus>>>Sony>>>>>Natal

Congrats Nintendo You have made yet another Perfect Controller!
