Motion control is for arcade games.  True 1:1 makes things way more difficult in game than in real life, unless you are inside some sort of virtual reality.

It'd likely work something like the "smart release" in Wii Sports Resort for bowling and Frisby.

 

If not, they can always release a little ball mat/marker to act as a reference point for the camera and the player (not an actual ball, as that could end badly...).
