Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo sends the wrong message with the Wii Motion Plus

After playing several times with the Wii Motion Plus it is hard to deny that it helps increase the accuracy of the Wii Remote.  All one has to do is to play certain events on Wii Sports Resort to notice the difference immediately.  Swordplay, for one, shows that waggling won't get you anywhere and that precision is needed.

The issue that I have is that Nintendo is sending the wrong message to young males.  Hear me out.  The Wii Motion Plus makes the Wii Remote approximately 7/8 of an inch longer.  Is this Nintendo's way of saying that length and performance go hand in hand?  If so, does this mean that the Wii Motion Plus will be used in a new fishing game?  I've always heard that it wasn't how deep that you fish, but how you wiggle your worm.  Also, I've heard that width has to do more with performance than length.

It's hard to fault Nintendo for their design choice though.  If they went the other route and made the Wii Remote wider, then some people would have to use two hands.  This could make for an uncomfortable and embarassing look.

I just don't know that if releasing a black Wii Remote that's being bundled with a Wii Motion Plus is a good idea.  Will they call it the Lexington Steele Model?  All that I'm saying is that I'm not sure if Nintendo has it right or wrong in this instance.  The line between pleasing or offending soccer moms is very thin and this could go either way (just like this thread).

Nintendo is trying to appeal to female gamers more these days. I know a few single women who are VERY happy with M+.

I think that you're selling the Wii Motion Plus a bit short.  The initial sales have been rather large.

Hm... it was mostly hardcore gamers who complained that the original Wiimote wasn't good enough. This thread puts everything into a different light.

Exactly.  The Lexington Steele Model, as I like to call it, is definitely aimed at a more hardcore audience.

If she told you size doesn't matter, she lied.
