I was a little disappointed when I saw the headline that it was a DS game, because the graphics/art style was my favorite part of the game.

Then why are you disappointed? The art style is right there in the screenshots. The resolution is lower, because the screens are smaller, but the sumi-e inspired art style is right there. The DS may be the one system that is better for this series than the Wii: backing up the drawing mechanics with motion-based drawing was awesome, but backing them up with actual drawing may be the only way to make them even better.

When I said headline, I ment the thread title, so based only off the info that it was on the DS and my gut reaction, and before seeing any screens was I dissapointed.  I agree now though, the DS may be the perfect fit for this game.

Great to see that a sequel is coming, amazing actually. The question is though who will be developing the game...

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

Bad controls have killed so many DS games for me.

Like what?  What games have been killed by bad controls?

The only ones I know with control issues are the FPS wanna-be's and TWEWY.

The game looks awesome and I am pleased it's on DS. Very pleased.

Those games have great controls! Ok the fps's give cramps for the first while (your wrist will adjust though), but the actual controls are as good as a mouse.

The games that are bad are the ones that suffer from lack of an analogue stick (or touch screen equivilant).

GTA: Chinatown Wars for example has to have driving assist without an analogue stick, and what the assist does is not always what you want.

Okami would probably benefit from an analogue stick. But I don't think it's a massive problem.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Pretty much anything that has fast paced segments and expects the use of stylus, d-pad and both shoulder buttons, or maybe just stylus and the right set of buttons if you are right handed.

I also find the games that decide to use the stylus for movement and then decide to put your actual viewscreen on the top screen terrible design.  The FPS games that try it for aiming aren't welcomed either.

Pretty much 90% of games that take an existing game style and then try and throw stylus control in just for the sake of it.  Building a game style based around stylus is fine.  Having seperate parts of a game where the stylus is heavily required is fine.  Taking perfectly working controls for one game type and making them awkward at best just for the sake of using the stylus more suck balls, unfortunatly this is where most DS games fall.

Can you give examples of games like this though.

The four that I know have less than stellar controls are CoD, GTA, Metroid, and TWEWY.  None of them is an instance of what you're talking about though.

The game should have been on a real gaming system, not this excuse of an electronic crossword puzzle book.

You're losing your touch, Rol.

By God. Must buy.

Quoted for truh and emphasis.

I can't believe it... this is amazing

Now, how to buy a DS and not miss a college payment...

I wonder who's developing this.  Without the guys at Clover, it'll be hard to match the first game.

Okami

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.
