Forums - Sales - Killzone 2 SALES are Very Disappointing (Just Realized)

Plenty of games sold more on PS3, despite the userbase difference...

Whats plenty? 10 maybe 15 games? Not a lot considering both consoles share like 300 games.

All these numbers were just pulled out of my ass clearly. If you can find actual numbers I'd be interested in seeing them.

Also when a PS3 game has a lead its usually by a few hundred thousand. Several 360 games have a lead by millions.

That's true, doesn't change my point though.

And despite it, the PS3 offers plenty of games not found elsewhere, just like any other console. I think that should matter more than how many sales something receives...

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought this topic was in SALES DISCUSSION.

Clearly you are trying to change this into a discussion about exclusive content because overall software sales is a discussion the PS3 can't win. Considering you're a fan boy, that must be very difficult for you to admit.

Give up the labels dude, as I've told you, they make you appear to not be able to debate without them. My point is in general, it isn't just in favor of PlayStation. I didn't say not to discuss sales, I'm saying gamers should worry more about PLAYING games then stressing sales, regardless of the company/console/preference.

Someone, who claims to be so neutral, should be able to figure that out...

I do enjoy playing my games, but I also enjoy discussing sales.  I'm fairly certain that if the PS3 was in the lead in this regard that you would be trumpeting the fact fairly vigorously.

no,bad sales,..

Nope, wrong again. Sure, I'll discuss sales too, but won't dwell on them.

In fact, there are games that sold better on PS3 than 360. There was also a fair amount of times where the PS3 outsold the 360 WW in total sales. Find me a post where I was "trumpeting those facts fairly vigorously", and you have a point. Otherwise, it's BS, as I would normally say about false accusations/assumptions.

After perusing some of your other posts, I have to admit you are correct.  You seem to focus very tightly on the capabilities of the consoles.

You have my sincere apology... I was incorrect in my assumption.  I was imagining you would do what many of the other fans of the PS3 do on a regular basis, but I was wrong.

I was discussing sales and you pop in with "Plenty of games sold more on PS3, despite the userbase difference..." I called bullshit and made good points.

You could have said "Okay, 360 software sales are considerably better overall." But nope, you would never admit something like that. Instead you play the Sales Don't Matter card. If you're so unconcerned about sales you shouldn't haven't said "Plenty of games sold more on PS3, despite the userbase difference..."

i would have expected it to have surpassed 2 million by now. i guess it just doesnt have the brand name strenth as titles like gears or cod

Gears 1 had brand name strength?

well yes. it came from epic games and launched at a time when thier was feeble games on the shelfs.

the games on the shelf at that time wasnt that good then all of a sudden gears of war came out that blew everything away and was a clear must have title, was the first true nex-gen game so it sold very well, and naturally the sequel has done better.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

A. You were adding to a comment that was directed to me.

B. I responded to you because you added to comment directed to me.

C. I'm sure you do say good things about other consoles. But admitting the 360 has better sales than the PS3 is a soft spot for you. You were quick to say "Plenty of games sold more on PS3, despite the userbase difference..." But now sales don't matter? Perhaps it was because I pointed out sales are typically better and sometimes by millions on the 360?

Okay, so as of September 1st, Killzone 2 stands at 1,830,000.

Let's assume it continues to do about 12,500 weekly for the next 10 weeks.
=125,000

Then let's say it averages 20,000 over the 6 week holiday season.
=120,000

So by year's end, perhaps 2,075,000.

Obviously, those figures are pretty much loose guesses off the top of my head, and things could pan out very differently depending on MW2 (bad times) and Slim increasing software & release of Platinum version (good times).

The thing with Killzone 2 is that, since it is very highly polished, it won't look old hat in a year's time (if anything, it'll probably still look top of the range even by next Christmas), so potentially we might find some small legs.

Random stab in the dark, but 7,500 weekly for Q1 and Q2 and then 5,000 weekly for Q3 and Q4 could mean 195,000 and 130,000.

So maybe by the end of 2010, 2,400,000.

And 2.4mil > the 2.25mil I said I'd settle for earlier.

A. WRONG. I wan't directing my comment towards you...

B. WRONG AGAIN, I wasn't talking to you nor directing anything at you.

C. I've admitted time and time again that the PS3 will lose the gen, as it should for all the missteps Sony committed in the systems early stages, check the post history man. My post of "Plenty of games sold better on PS3" was trying to make a point that userbase difference doesn't always guarantee victory. But even with that, the PS3 could outsell the 360 from now till gen's end and I'd STILL say that sales shouldn't be at the forefront of a good gaming experience.

If you weren't so hell-bent on pegging somebody as a "fanboy", you'd have a better understanding of my point, rather than spurting out pointless labels that show a lag in your argument here.

A. I didn't say that.

B. I didn't say that either. You added to a comment of someone who was talking to me. Therefore I responded to you. If we only talked to people who is directly talking to us there would be little discussion.

C. Finally, you're being reasonable. This is a sales discussion forum so don't be surprised if people discuss sales. Gaming experience belongs in a different forum.
