I think 1Up's B+ is low to begin with but the conversion to an 83 makes absolutely no sense at all.

Rating it below a 95 is like slapping the game in the face because it didn't swallow.

The problem with the way 1-UP reviewed this games is that perhaps they reviewed it only from the point of view of someone who has played all three games already. People who have played some or all of these games already and didn't especially like them are not going to buy this anyway and thus the review doesn't really need to address them.

The people who are likely to buy this game are 1. people who are Metroid fans who are going to buy this no matter what 1-UP says or 2. people who missed most or all of these games the first time round.

If you are in the latter group you would be nuts not to pick up this game.

In the end it's just one review and i'm in the group that will be buying this game not matter what, while trying to convince as many other people as possible to do themselves the same favour.

Yeah. 1Up clearly seems to forget that GC = 21 million and Wii = 52 million.

And of that 21 million GC, just about 10% own the first 2 and on Wii just about 2% own Corruption.



Way to address everyone else, 1Up.

Thank you fo stating that cause 1UP really needs to get up and give the game what it deserves which is anything over 95. In 1UP style they  need to give the game what it deserves which is a A+ and not a B+.

Review scores for compilations are usually meant for perspective owners, since it's expected that existing owners already know the quality of the individual games anyway.

So you're saying that ports of old games should be treated like new games?

They usually are and pretty much always they get a lower score than their original release. The exception being enhanced ports which have a good chance to maintain the score and compilations which might actually get a higher score because of their value.

And should MPT get a higher score because of its value?

hells yeah dood. I'm loving it so far. this package is not an 88 lol, I give it a 95 at least, and I'm not even a big fan of the prime series.

I'd have thought anyone who loves the Prime games would see Trilogy as a must-have. I'll definitely be picking it up as soon as possible.

I've gone through all 3 games 3 times at least, 100% on different difficulties, but I really can't wait to get this. 3 of my favourite games, 3 of the best releases of the last decade, on one disc (in a shiny metal box!!) for the price of one game? Yus plz.
