I'd like to see someone from a indie party win the primaries.

Jede indies have there own primaries and then only receive around .5-1% of the general election vote anyway. The closest we got to having a 3rd party pres was in 92 when Perot was beating Bush and Clinton but dropped out in the summer and then got back in.
The USA needs a serious third party candidate.

im glad you know who he will run against in 2012 and im glad you know his term will be flawless from here on out. Whoever he runs against will bring up every mistake he makes. don't be so certain. |
I never said his first term was going to be flawless from here on out, I am saying the economy will probably recover and regardless of why it recovered he as the president is most likely going to be taking the credit especially in the minds of swing voters who as I said are stupid.

Indies are against him by a 2:1 margin now plus in all likelyhood there will be a double dip recession. + we don't know who will get the GOP nom. Could be Romney or Gingrich and if the latter Obama would lose. Remember the black/youth vote pulled him over in toss-up states by like 1-2%. VA will go red in 2012 I can tell you that much. VA and NJ will go GOP this Nov. which will help turn Obama's tide. I predict 20+ seats in the House and around 10 in the Senate for the GOP in '10. |
I think you're being pretty optimistic here.

Or a 3rd party-leaning candidate within either party.
Mike Gravel and Ron Paul were the best candidates for both parties, and neither did excellently. Ron Paul, however, did end up 2nd in 10 states (after most had dropped out of the race).
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

If elections were held today, we'd have republican governors in VA and NJ. We'd also have a few more republican congressmen, as Harry Reid would even lose his spot as a congressman.

But would that actually work? Say a candidate from one of the two parties ran as a 3rd party. Wouldn't that split the partie's vote and make for a easy win for the opposing party?
I believe that the Republicans did that at one point

Not necessarily. Look at Lieberman in Connecticut.

I was moreso talking about his Senate prediction.
