"The 51 percent negative for Wii Sports Resort sends a pretty strong anti-casual message from the readership. The gameplay variety and motion control aspect seem to do little to overcome our posture that we like our games deep, we like them to have narratives, and we like them to have guns and shooting."

*vomits*

If it weren't for Stephen Totilo, I'd have removed Kotaku from my bookmarks.  Here's hoping he decides to write somewhere else.

Aside from gonintendo (which has way too many posts!), are there any good pro-Wii or pro-ludology blogs?

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9

They have made this point just judging by one game? O-o-ok, may I use this faulty logic to express my opinion regarding quoted point? Let's, see... GeoW and Halo favourite games on most beloved console among Kotaku readers. 'Guns and shooting' - check. 'Narrative' - hmmm, should I even bother? Nay. 'Deep' - not sure what do they mean, complexity, maybe? Well, even tycoon games are more complex stuff than regular multiplayer match in GeoW\Halo. So, yeah, my little sister plays more 'deep' games than average Kotaku reader. See, I'm elitist, too :/

Cool, i never have and now i have no reason to start.

I'm going to stop going to this website because it doesn't agree with me! *pouts*

51% actually sounds low. I don't see whats appealing to that game outside of the controls.

Perhaps people just don't care. Hate actually takes some effort.

Kotaku? Ha, you´re joking, right?

They love´em some wii!

touchy touchy aren't we now.

You have the freedom to not visit that website, done and done.

As for me, I see nothing wrong with this article, it's just a poll on their own reader base, which if you didn't already know are the core gamers who have different opinions and taste in games from the casuals, and the poll results simply reflect this.

I'm more just looking for a good alternative. Kotaku is nice because it's entertaining and sticks to 10 or so posts per day.  But whenever they post about games I like, which is becoming more and more rare, it's laced with the old "GATHERING DUST!!!" commentary.  Their writers have decided to take a stand against the evil Wii and defend narrative-based games.  Sorry, I mean works of art.  And that's just bad reporting.

There are lots of great, gameplay-based games that I don't think many blogs cover. Real Heroes: Firefighter, Dawn of Discovery, Order Up, and the like.  Gonintendo covers these types of games, but they have about 5,000,000 posts per day so it's hard to keep up.
