If 11 more come back you'll be at 50%. Still better than the 54% of 360s in that now famous Game Informer poll.

I've ran my 80GB for 6 days straight no prob. After 4 they returned?
4 ≈ One
Having said that, Sony did have the worst launch I've seen when the PSP came out. I was working at EB at the time, and about one in three were coming back. I remember one guy exchanging his and he wanted to try it out before taking it home. That one had the same problem, dead pixels and dust behind the screen.

There are plenty of people here who would gladly make something up to start up a flamewar (I'm not suggesting the OP here is).
If this does turn out to be true, it's not the first time the initial shipment of a product had problems. There might be something that was overlooked during testing. It's probably best to wait a couple months to purchase the slim (or any other product that just came out for that matter).

That's the exact same thing my colleague at work said...he said never to buy the first generation of any product since there are always problems with it...wait a few months so that the manufacturer can get rid of the kinks.

Probably just made up the excuse so they can return it, I'm sure if the guys had Best Buy had plugged them in they would have worked just fine.

Argw ... , so i have to wait with purchasing my PS3 Slim? 8(
As far as I know, 360 users always concern about how much heat is generated by console. It could happen, that they their PS3 was generating perfectly normal amount of heat for this model, but people were just overreacting.
There are still no report about first broken Slims here.

No. This is simply not true. There is no risk, it will work perfectly fine. These are very low chance rare occurances.
I wonder how many people went, oh look it's slim, it must produce no heat if it's that small, let me put into this small cabinet with no air flow, or how about I put it close to the wall blocking the exhaust, it doesn't matter because the slim is so quiet and cool...4 days later...OMG SONY SUCKS, MEH PS3 SLIM IS OVERHEATING!!!
These types of people in the past have killed many 360 and to a lesser degree PS3 doing retarded things like this...it's a fact, some people just don't know how to take care of their electronics and because of their incompetence, their electronics break.
Use to work at EB my self, and yeah I had to deal with it as well, the most common things I saw were brand new games being returned the next day only to have the data side scratched to the shit house and them claiming they bought it like that, the parents would get pissed once I denied their request, bitches got owned XD
It could also be that the people that return the PS3 slims are doing so because they need the money back, many buy on impulse even if they haven't got the money, credit cards, the best friend to those that can't control their finances, and as such have to return the slims back to get a refund, of course the return is followed up with an excuse and what better excuse than to say it over heats just because it's a little warm after gaming on it.
I'll give this to the end of this year, if nothing more is said, then it's either some defective units or retarded customers, but if things blow out like RROD did, then Sony has a big issue on their hands....I guess we have to wait and see how things turn out, but I'm guessing it's the latter and not the former that is the case a majority of the time.
