Ok then, what's your opinion?

I have read all of the article but 2014 is just an unbelievable date.

Do I think the PS3 will stay on the market for a long time before Sony launches a PS4? Yes

Is it by 2014? No-Why?  Nintendo and MS will by then of course released their new systems and there will be a generation gap forcing them to choose which system to develop for because they obviously can't release it on all three kinda like what the Wii has done now. However, Nintendo had a new strategy with the Wii. Sony's PS3 is the conventional approach which is to release the most powerful system you can which will be outdated by 2012.

This isn't flame bait shams. This is really a deep discussion really for Sony users. I posted this thread because I found it rather interesting to hear SONY ONLY opinions and thoughts on the article.

They will probably have their next article be " Wii 2.0 ready for holiday 2008" 

i definitely don't see the next xbox 2010-2013. thus, i see the ps4 as probably 2011-2014. i still don't think the ps3 is going to be very successful though. but it is technologically impressive, i'm wondering how much perceived benefits there will be to the ps4 over the ps3. (assuming of course there is a ps4)

that's the main reason i think the ps3 will have a pretty long life cycle even if it doesn't sell well. if they wanted to release the ps4 in 2010, how much better would it perform than the ps3? would the average person be able to tell? how much would it cost?

if they want to bring out the ps4 early, i think they'd have to do something really different so people don't complain about it not being "next generation". something nintendo-esque perhaps.

I'm thinking, as of this moment, maybe 2011-2012 for a PS4 to appear, but that will depend alot on how much momentum the PS3 can pick up in the next few years.

There would be only 1 possible reason to avoid Rrod if it continues on the new models, thats it, it should still come out earlier then the other two, or on par with the wii 2, so thats about it
