Forums - Gaming - The Final Fantasy XIII conspiracy: Why the controversy?

But did "targeting the American market" really work especially when making the games as 360 exclusives? Star Ocean 4 hasn't even sold half what the PS2 version did, and with its weekly numbers as low as they are now, I don't think they ever will unless its confirmed to be a multi at some point.

i've read every single word of the article and it is way too obvious that it was written out of anger, of Final Fantasy 13 not being exclusive anymore.
and the anger of the fanboys is poorly disguised as that they are only mad because the ps3 version will be dumbed down because of it being multiplat.

more people get to play a AAA game, idk see what the anger is for.

and because of the childness of fanboys i'm getting this game for 360 :D

I was going to purchase this for my PS3 but I will do the same and get it for my 360 just because dumb fanboys won't let this go.  I will take a picture of my 360 FFXIII next to my PS3 system just to use it as my Sig.

The best RPGs died with the SNES, and thats it, well might have a comeback in the DS but i dont have any hopes on any of the rpgs on the hd consoles because they are going to be to graphic-centric just look at the trailers of Final Fantasy XIII you can barely see any gameplay or history, they just show how pretty the battles look, and thats lame

Nintendo is the best videogames company ever!

You need to play more RPGs.  Heck, some of the best RPGs for the SNES have had remakes on the PS2 and DS.  Let alone all the great sequels to series that mearly had one of many good incarnations on the SNES (Chrono, Dragon Quest, Mario RPG, Tales, etc)

Six upcoming games you should look into:

I think the reason why all PS3 fanboys (me too) really angry about FFXIII going multiplat because X360 seems get everything but we still didnt get any decent JRPG (SOIV and TLR). FF Versus XIII is still PS3 exclusive but that game would take at least 2 years to come out and SE might change their mind and make it multiplat.

About which one among PS3 and X360 can sell more JRPG are hard to expect. Until now there still no JRPG game that release simulatenously on both console.

- X360 might sell better because it already has lot of JRPG.
- PS3 also might sell better because many JRPG fan that bought PS3 as they believe PS3 will get more JRPG games in future (like PS2). FF Versus XIII and FFXIV as PS3 exclusive might attract FF fans to buy PS3 ver.

Its kind of funny how you assume that JRPG's are in decline in america just because they are on a certain platform... it makes me laugh.

Nope the real reason they never broke a million is because NO ONE GIVES 2 SHITS ABOUT JRPG's ANYMORE PERIOD. They are dead in the water and there very last chance for servival is FFXIII. If that game does not sell 3+million the first 2 months, you can count JRPG's dead like side scrolling shooters.

I still love them, and I know some other people that still buy every single one. The hard sad fact remains that the majority of the gaming public has moved on.

Now I did like you facts about both titles being near compleation at the same time, and the fact that most of america saw a running 360 demo before anything on PS3, it makes my head explode. It just goes to show you that you should never ever trust the companys that makes games till you see it for yourself.

JRPG is a redundant term; almost all RPGs that matter are Japanese. The North American ones are aimed at the type of gamer who worships Starwars, dungeons and Dragons, and sits in front of his computer all night, every night.

if SE are so into games being on ALL platforms so that EVERYONE can enjoy them, why did they make SO4 and TLR x360 exclusive? even if they would sell MUCH better on the ps3?

Thats why people are getting angry at SE...Because they are a lying 2-faced corporation

If SE were true to their reason for bringing XIII to x360 why dont they also release all those x360 rpg exclusives on ps3 as well?

1. Why would they have sold better on the PS3?  The PS3 is doing badly in all regions, including Japan.  If anything, it would have sold better on the Wii (or DS).  The best strategy using the 'HD' setup would have been to sell it on both PS3 and 360.

2. The reason they made them an exclusive is most likely because they were 'targetting the American market', as they have said in the past.

They would have sold better on ps3 because most if not all jrpgs sell better on ps3 than xbox....plus ps3 has 3x userbase in japan than xbox and japan is where SO4 and TLR are most popular....Yes wii has a large userbase as well and it would sell quite alot on its system as well....but the main point is that SE made those games EXCLUSIVE to xbox....why not have them multiplatform so they can make more money, sell more AND have more people play thier games? so therefore SE = 2 faced....They constantly give the consumer bullshit and justify their bullshit with even more bullshit

Predictions

GT5 will sell 3.2million + first week on ps3 (made 06 March 2010)

FFXIII Versus will have higher Metacritic scores than FFXIII after the first month.... Bet going on with perpride - loser changes sig for a month

KH3 will be PS3 EXCLUSIVE - willing to bet removal from vgchartz for a month

Really? Do I need to even drag out the laundry list that is JRPG stereotypes? *facepalm*

Yeah, and WRPGs aren't chock full of cliches or anything. Seriously just go back to your cave and play that mess of a game, Mass Effect.
