some people have cured the 'YLOD', look on youtube/google. You will most likely have to open up your console, so before you view any videos i suggest you call sony and ask them what you should do.

60GB models are the ones that die after two years, due to the B/C issue they have.

I just traded in my 60GB for a slim. Originals have been breaking left and right. Sorry about your loss. $150 to repair.

(I figured...$160 trade-in value of 60GB and $300 for slim meant $140 out of pocket. Beats $150 for any future repair.)

You fool! 60gb are worth much more on the open market! Don't give in to the ebil of Gamestop :(

wow you already have a sig and everything.
yeah 60gb tend to overheat.
but they last quite long. 1.5-2 years average it well used.
but they have 3-4 chips ps3 + ps2 hardware.

yellow light can mean 2 things, overheating, and power supply.
and u likely fall into overheating.

for refurbish its 150$. but considering the slim is 245 pounds its a better deal , it have a HUGE 17 fan (one of the best in class). or a 80gb thats it's known to be reliable.
try to get it fixed they sometimes give you warranty, sell it online (some people offer quite a good money don't exchange it!!!).

buy another or keep it.

my launch 60 gig must be driving straight down the road of happiness and not taking any left or right turns since i have never had a problem. I swear most of these RRoD and YLoD threads are bullshit who the hell would ask a forum for advice when you can call the manufacturer.

Not joking. Didn't care about losing a bit of money. My 60 gigger went to full fan speed 15 minutes in, just in XMB (not even playing a game, movie)...

Loss of BC doesnt matter, I have a PS2. Card readers were never used. So, slim was the better option by far.

^^ sell it on ebay you may even get more than 300 dollars. I could consider 150 dollars to be a moderate amount of money, at least worth 2 games at full prices.

It was traded in yesterday for a slim

And they only go for like $200-250 on ebay but I'd rather skip the hassle and lose a bit.
