"After all, it is Sony and Microsoft who are showing off motion controls. Nintendo is not showing off HD anything. It clear to see who is following who."

Some people. Many people indeed, don't understand this statement.

why show off what the Wii can do? The Wii can do 720p... which is HD.

Modern War 2? lol

Well, if Malstrom wants to know why everyone is talking about 'Modern War 2' instad of NSMB Wii, maybe he should take a look at the American preorder charts.

1 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 X360   821,101
3 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PS3   245,835
28 New Super Mario Bros. Wii Wii    39,563

Does that mean you are willing to bet that either MW2 version will outsell NSMB Wii?

The 360 version in America, definitely.

Well, that's the only thing that could possibly happen, in all other regions NSMB Wii is guaranteed to win. Although NSMB DS sold more than Modern Warfare on the 360 in America, so the Wii game might achieve a clean sweep.

But people (Malstrom) don't seem to realise that most of these analysts are from America and America is the only market they're analysing.

There are quite a few Japanese analysts out there as well. There is one in particular who has been predicting Wii doom for quite some time, though I cannot remember her name (I believe it is a her).

Also, it is interesting that Malestrom talks about stock price -- while Nintendo's stock price has basically retreated back to where it was pre-Wii-launch. So not all is right with on the investor side there as well. (The traditional long-term investor in Japan may not be as powerful as the new day trader).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

The thing with NSMB Wii is that it's going to be a monster leg games just like Wii Fit, Wii Play and in smaller proportion Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Brothers Brawl. MW2 will have great release and good legs, but won't appear in top 10 for 2 years.

Sequel to a game that soundly outsold the best selling Grand Theft Auto game (San Andreas).

If analysts were so into their numbers, how come they were so excited about Grand Theft Auto (San Andreas sold around 17 million) or Modern War 2 (Modern War sold around 10 million) when they aren’t talking about NSMB Wii at all? NSMB DS has sold 20 million. Its sequel should get the equivalent of “OMG Grand Theft Auto 4!” type excitement from analysts and all. The ‘remake’ of Wii Fit, and Wii Fit has sold more than 20 million copies, is also not being mentioned.

I think it is telling how analysts are completely missing these releases. Not commenting on them at all is not due to stupidity (no one is this stupid). It is deliberate. The reason why it is deliberate is the question.

It is not that analysts do not *get* Nintendo. They deliberately are not ‘getting’ Nintendo. The question is “Why?”

It's console racism.

Damage control from a person who complains about damage control for a living.

Damage control would only be if Nintendo weren't still selling insanely high numbers.

Countering idiot internet rhetoric about how Nintendo is "doomed", is not damage control, it's called facts. As has been stated, Nintendo is down year over year by two percent, their competitors are down twenty three percent.

The internet lies, and needs  to have light shed on it so that the idiots flee once in a while.
