i don't think they are going to drop the price to 149 any time soon. The demand is probably not worth the drop in price.

$150 Arcade if Sony wins by a large amount in Sept and Oct in the US.

If they win by a small amount or break even maybe a $150 cut by March of next year.

Natal is coming next Fall so they don't another cut on the Elite, just Natal bundled with it.

I'm literally dumbfounded at people that say the price will drop again this year or anytime soon. I'm not sure what you guys are basing your logic on (the ps3 fanboys i understand tho). It's tempting to pass you guys off as just incredible foolish....or maybe it's cause taken many business/economics/accounting classes but there is no reason for the x360 to drop it's price...PS3 Slim or not.

They have the lowest price on console on the market already and we are in a recession, it is doing fine. They are up YOY compared to last year. They have plenty of games coming out. These are common sense things... do you guys even consider these things when you create a topic of discussion?

MS has big.,BIG pockets. They make BILLIONS in profit in a fiscal year. They want to DETHRONE Sony, and the only way to do that is undercut them as much as they can. They will not not take third place easily this gen without a rather big fight (IE price cuts, bundling and securing more timed execlusives).

I actually see both companies coming out with a higher priced sku if the rumors of the ps3 slim 250 gig and the super elite 250 gig are true.

^you make it sound so simple, I believe you also think they could give away for FREE 1 million 360s and they could manage it. That would break even the strongest.

What I consider is that some people don't consider or comprehend all the facts that are available before they being their train of thoughts. 

Dethrone Sony? They effectively have...Sony is in 3rd place by a pretty substainal margin right now, they are a peanut of what they were last generation. I agree they will try to undercut them when they can. Why, however, would MS drop the price of the least expensive console model on the market. THEY'RE ALREADY THE LOWEST PRICED CONSOLE. That's like Wii cutting the price in 2008. Why would you...it's selling fine?

Look at the big picture, MS as a corp has a fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders. They aren't going to throw away money at the xbox forever just to keep sony tied down. The MS entertainment division posted a lost last quarter, (regardless of how much of that was R&D for zune hd) how much money do you really think MS can afford to shed off the price? We're still in a recession. Is xbox is profitable, MS is happy. If xbox is profitable and beating sony, MS is even happier. If xbox is not profitable and beating sony, what reason does MS (shareholders by extention) have to be happy?

Hmm Price Cut another one in the next time is that pretty unlikely. The Price in Europe for the Elite was lowered but for the first time ever I guess the Price was increased too. The Xbox Elite went down to 249 Euro but the Arcade went up to 199 Euro from 179 Euro. If they really want to cut the price again thats a pretty stupid decision first up and then a few months later down to 149 ??
