MS has big.,BIG pockets. They make BILLIONS in profit in a fiscal year. They want to DETHRONE Sony, and the only way to do that is undercut them as much as they can. They will not not take third place easily this gen without a rather big fight (IE price cuts, bundling and securing more timed execlusives).

What I consider is that some people don't consider or comprehend all the facts that are available before they being their train of thoughts. 

Dethrone Sony? They effectively have...Sony is in 3rd place by a pretty substainal margin right now, they are a peanut of what they were last generation. I agree they will try to undercut them when they can. Why, however, would MS drop the price of the least expensive console model on the market. THEY'RE ALREADY THE LOWEST PRICED CONSOLE. That's like Wii cutting the price in 2008. Why would you...it's selling fine?

Look at the big picture, MS as a corp has a fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders. They aren't going to throw away money at the xbox forever just to keep sony tied down. The MS entertainment division posted a lost last quarter, (regardless of how much of that was R&D for zune hd) how much money do you really think MS can afford to shed off the price? We're still in a recession. Is xbox is profitable, MS is happy. If xbox is profitable and beating sony, MS is even happier. If xbox is not profitable and beating sony, what reason does MS (shareholders by extention) have to be happy?
