Yeah, I remember something like this too... And the Master Sword/Shield in their office... Man, it gives me creeps...

Also there are TONS of Multi player focused games on the Wii and a lot are of high quality, maybe you guys aren't looking too much. Dare I say that there isn't enough games that focus on a single player only? A few Multi player focused games that I can mention off the top of my head are: All the light gun games(HoD 1&2, Overkill, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Deadspace, Darkside Chronicles, and a few more), NSMBWii(the game could be played single player but the most fun is in Multi), the Conduit, Call of Duty World at War, and Call of Duty 4, Wii Series(only fun multi player really..), a good number of wiiware games, and tons of others I can't remember at the moment. Almost every game on all consoles this generation are multi player focused. The single player experiences are in the minority. That is why I'm mostly play hand held games. The main reason why Retro Studios should focus on a single player games is because they have the most experience with that area. Yeah they most likely will be able to make an amazing multi player game, but that would take a lot more time and would probably disappoint their fan base which likes them for their single player offerings. To be honest I don't even want them changing genre's, we need more Action-Adventures, and they are a great developer for that genre. |
Well, I mainly meant local (preferably at least 4 player) multiplayer. There aren't nearly that many games that qualify - the HD consoles are severely lacking in this area, and hell, the N64 still has the Wii beat. Most of the hyped games coming to the Wii soon seem heavy on single player (NMH2, SMG2, Zelda Wii, Pikmin 3, Metroid Other M, ToG, ARF). Oh well, I guess online multiplayer has left both our groups starved for more...
Someone brought up the fact that they're a western dev, so they'd make a game for western audiences... makes sense. I think Star Fox would fit this description.
Okay, yeah. I just really want Star Fox.
I hope its a 3rd person shooter or some kind of shooter, I feel like playing a new shooter.

Was Retro a big developer before Nintendo picked them up and gave them Metroid???

No, they were actually quite new. Nintendo made them into a big developer though.

Tales? You sure you're talking about the right series when it comes to no multiplayer?

Raven Blade would be great- a new IP, 3rd person action/adventure game, wasn't it? It'd be good if Retro were allowed that kind of freedom with their project, rather than being assigned to another Nintendo IP. I think they've earned it.
