No I have not played Halo 3 and that is why I avoid talking about it. I was talking about the first game. As for the game history I think we shall get some things straight. It sucks, but almost all games history sucks. There is a difference between deep history with content and competent well delived history. Almost every game features the second kind of history line. What I mean is that a history about saving the world/princess can be great as long as the history`s development is good. Halo is ok is this development, but taking it for more than what it is worth is just stupid. Do not take this as a insult, almost all my favorite games have plot`s that would not stand a logic check.

Second, if you buy the books and extra stuff that makes you more of a hardcore fan than a literary critic. What I mean here is that there is s lot of extra stuff that fill plot holes in games (cartoons special, comic books, books, audio files), however this does not make the plot good. You may really love the series and I can symphathize with you, but I think you may be a little "blind" (not as an insult) to take critcism or make them yourself.

As for the weapons, let me go into more detail. This is one of the things that makes Halo so crappoy for me.

- 8 weapons total
- carry only 2 at a time
- 3 weapons are very rare (shotgun that appears after level6, sniper rifle and rocket laucher)
- 3 are worthless needler and rifle and plasma rifle
- weapons are very weak and damage is screwed up, one elite may take 2 rockets, full rifle and pistols clip, 4 sniper bullets or just a melee with a cheap plastic pistol to the back. Brutes take 4 rockets or just a piustol bullet in the belly.
- all weapons are broken, do not work how they should (you need FPS experience to understand this)
Pistol - long range weapon, very accurate, great power and scarce ammo (atributes are opposite to all FPS I know)
Rifle - worthless crap,  innacurate, weak,  large clip (that does not make sense for an automatic long range weapon)
Sniper - very powerfull but useless against the flood. It is better used at close range than the shotgun (???). Crappy clip (4 bullets). Shots fast.
RL - powerfull but less than a charged shot. It is so slow that you can not even kill an Elite with one shot. Crapiest ammo capacity.
Shotgun - powerfull and fast (shotguns are slow). A lot of ammo for a shotgun. Useless against elites.
Plasma pistol - very usefull, can not reload but it is everywhere. Can shot faster than the plasma rifle (if you press it fast). Charged shot is cheap. Shot are slow
Plasma rifle - useless when playing on heroic and legendary. Overheats quickly, shots slower than pistol, shots are slow and can not charge.
Needler - crap. Can not be used against more than 2 enemies. Too slow,homing shots get lost along the way.

Well that was a huge war between Lost, Montana, Alexie and Sqrl.

Anyway Halo is by far the best FPS in my opinion and I'm satisfited. I think when it released on the Xbox. No console maker or developer then could make a superior, easier to control FPS. Halo has done that and Bungie should be proud.

Just to be absolutely clear: Best by far all-platforms? Or Best by far consoles?

You know what, I am going to go on record and say I hate Halo. I never thought it was that great of a game. Kinda fun I guess, but it bores the hell out of me for more than 30 seconds. I think it is not even a quarter the game that Goldeneye, or the original Perfect Dark were. That said, a lot of people seem to like it and thats cool. However you have fun is best so long as you don't hurt anyone.

The above said, this guy is an asshole and a douche. He rants and raves at people daring to attack his precious Halo and goes on to claim how great it is in a semi-modest fashion. In the end though you see him for what he is, a simple Halo fanboy. Telling people who think the game sucks to shut up is stupid. They have every right to talk about their dislike of the game. I hope that guy never does another show again.

I dont hate Halo.. I hate how overhyped it is. I rented a 360 just to beat it. It is not anything new or special to the FPS genre and there are many games that does everything it does better. It's only plus is it's the first well made FPS on a console. You can say "but the vehicles" but nothing, flipping GoldenEye 007 had a tank you could drive. Unreal Tournament 2004 has better vehicles and came before Halo (if you look half of Halo's vehicles are direct ripoffs of UT04's example/ Warthog vs the Scorpion).

Well the best FPS last-gen and this gen as far as consoles. I don't think Killzone 2 will do anything special. Its attempt is to dethrone Halo.

You know what, I'm going to do the same thing for the PS3 when MGS4 and FFXIII comes out. Just rent the console and when finished give it back. Instead of forking out all the cash for a console like that.

Try and play Halo 3 on Xbox Live. The replayability is amazing. Just like the Nintendo fanboys will be saying next year when Super Smash Bros. Brawl release. There going to be like "SSBB is amazing online, Its better than Halo 3 on Xbox Live. Watch that happens.

 most blockbuster videos only have 360s for rent, they dont have Wiis or PS3s yet. And I did, using my friends XBL account on his console as I only beat the single player when I rented it (legendary with all 25 skulls). Plus you still fork out a good bit to rent a console ($50).

 Fair enough, I really don't think its fair to crown a single FPS as best ever for all-systems. There are just too many differences not only in the controls of PC vs Console but in the styles of various FPS to call one the definitive "best by far" imo.
