Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo revenues per generation

wow look at the wii sales go higher and higher

I wonder if they will release a Wii 2 or will do something completely different

I think they do something completely different cause then it wouldn't be the same old thing and sell more units

as for the Wii 2 thing, Iv mentioned thsi several times,

Nintendo follows a Revolution/Perfection system

NES was a revolution in 2D games and story based games
SNES perfected 2D controls and stories in games
N64 was a revolution in 3D game control
GCN perfect 3D game control
Wii was a revoltion (no pun intended) with motion controls
Wii 2 will be the perfection of this.

What is amazing is that sales were essentially flat (in money terms) for 15 years before turning upward dramatically.

(And yet the stock is selling for what it did pre-Wii).

Who wonders what the NES data (and before) would show.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Did Nintendo really have $17 billion revenue in 2008? I dont believe it, becasue it's more than 1/3 of MS.

Do these revenue figures count handheld revenues as well or not?

Around the Network

Don't forget that includes handhelds.

The GB during SNES.
The GBColour during N64 (about N64 launch was when Pokemon surged so GBC + GB stopped N64 years falling below SNES years)
The GBA during GC
The DS across later GC and then Wii era.

The huge revenues now are a result of two huge successes at once.

correct me if I'm wrong, but this graphic neglects the influence of handhelds on Nintendo's revenue, right?

Geez, only some 4000 people work for Nintendo and yet they can clear profits/revenue like that. Scary.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

That's incredible. They're a giant.

Sony gaming (PSP  PS2 PS3 + SW) is only like $5 billion revenue. And Xbox a lot less, something around $3 billion if i remember the VGC discussion correctly.
