Forums - Microsoft - No significant sales boost despite 360 price cuts, says EEDAR

Instead of a price drop they should offer free live. That would destroy any Sony move in my opinion.

No way, Xbox Live is probably the most profitable aspect of the 360. They have millions of people paying for something you typically get for free.

It would make more sense to to drop the console prices down an additional $50 for the Arcade and Elite. Much of that will be made back in online services a lone.

It's not meant to boost sales, just keep them sustained. If they can do what they did last holiday season then they're doing great.

Inpossible. Holiday will be minus 1 million compared last year. Maybe more.

They shuld have droped $179 and $249 in my opinion. But sadly it seems it's harder to make the X360 profitable than the PS3.

I mean, in four years X360 only has dropped $100 (from $299 to $199 and $399 to $299), while PS3 in only three years has dropped $300 - from $599 to $299.

Slimebeast....What the hell are you talking about...

When The Times asked Sony exec Kaz Hirai if Sony was losing money on the PS3 Slim, the exec said this: "If you're just talking about the hardware alone, the quick answer is yes."

I just expressed it badly, sorry. Profits is a different thing (and i never dispute Sony is still losing money on every PS3).

What I meant to say was "But sadly it seems it's harder to make savings on the X360 manufacturing costs compared to PS3"

I don't see a large boost either, I think it was more to stop sales from decreasing.

wow, I completely forgot the Elite was $480 at its introduction.
That is crazy.
Imagine if the Elite was currently priced at $480.

kinda makes me appreciate the $300 price tag more and more

I guess the Elite was MS attempt to sell a console at a profit early on. Most people bought the Core unit for $300.

If you think that's crazy. What if I told you a console was released for $600 and that was the only option!

That you get typically for free where?...This gen Maybe...After XBL everyone wanted to provide an online gaming service..everyone...They just knew they could not keep up..Steam is problably the only thing close(and I mean by close that people generally like and are not defending becuase it's on their console)..but do retail PC games support Steam?......
