Forums - Gaming - Xboxist.com - 299$ Elite vs PS3 Showdown

The only thing bothering me with this is the lack of Internet Browser, Life and VidZone in the "Additional Services" box.

Looking at "value for the buck", i'd say both pack a big punch. But WiFi is a big plus on the PS3 side. But being able to hack the console and download games for the 360 is just as big for the 360 side.

But as an average Joe, looking at them side by side. I'd go for PS3 based on that chart alone.

Yeah the 360 has such great value and games. I want to get an elite now.

why did you say yea when you disagree with the article in the  OP.Case article said PS3 is a better value.

you should have said no, i disagree. "yeah " doesn't make sense here .

and you really are kidding when you say X360 is such a great value at 299 compared to PS3 at 299,,right?(games are subjective and diffrerent story)

Games are not a different story at all.  A PS3 at $50 is not good value if it doesn't have awesome games.  And at this point the only objective aggregates we have indicate that the Xbox 360 has a far superior library of games.  More quality, more depth, more variation.

Individuals can disagree on their personal taste, but for the masses the objective indicators are clear.  If you are in the market for a Blu-Ray player that may change your perception of value.  Other than that, based on what is available to us now, equal prices makes the Xbox 360 worth more.

For the record I have had a PS3 six months and enjoy many of the games.  But I do not own a single Blu-Ray despite having two HDTV's.

You do know the attach rate of the 360 is about 7-8 games per console, right?

I do. But only for retail games right ?

Yeah, which are the most expensive ones.

Same perception.

People don't do that kind of calculation IMO.

I never met somebody who makes his annual gaming budget.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

That's sooo 2007. Let it go.

Did we just go back to 2007?

Most of the games are multi-platform now so it doesn't matter.

Xbox 360 AAA: 21

PS3 AAA: 13

Wii AAA: 9

Xbox 360 85+: 68

PS3 85+: 54

Wii 85+: 22

Apparently it's a 2009 thing too.

I'm not saying the PS3 has a bad library.  I wouldn't own one if it did.  But there is a better one this generation.

Which is why I think is this wasn't added....

Frankly if it wasn't for the fact that Xbox live wasn't free they would be even. It's still gonna be a few years before the majority uses wifi ( I just got wifi this year...and I'm a tech junkie...just a cheap one) and blu-ray isn't really need...if i wanted a bluray player...I'll buy one for 99 bucks off of amazon instead of paying 300 for ps3.

Problem is Avg Joe isn;t as informed as we are...so we dont know what's gonna happen.

With the recession you may find that more and more people think about these things.
