I know its gotten some pretty favorable reviews but I'd like to hear some impressions from VGChartz people on whether this game is worth getting or not. Seems pretty promising (fun-wise not sales-wise..)

Is it out yet? We haven't seen reviews from the big guys like IGN.

It came out in the US and Canada on Tuesday..
Got it yesterday evening. So far I'm really impressed. On the graphical end the game is pretty top notch, some areas are stronger than others, but the texture work is great, and the models are quite nice too. This is certainly a game the GC or PS2 couldn't handle, which ALWAYS makes me smile.
The production values really surprised me as well. Well acted and scripted throughout with quite a few really scary moments. The cutscenes, and menus are good as well.
As far as gameplay it is very similar to the old RE games, but with less intence puzzles, and greatly improved movement. They still go for the cinematic over the practical when it comes to control, but it is never as frustrating or "loose" as the old RE games.
One thing I really dig is the autosave system, and the interesting weapon/health system. It saves quite often and always at the right times, no typewriter ribbons, limited saves, ect. This really helps keep the game from ever getting frustrating. Despite some quite tough boss battles.
In the end I am really impressed. The game reminds me of playing old school survival horror, but without the overly-frustrating random puzzles/deaths and awful controls. If you liked RE before 4, but could never go back to tank controls or permanently fixed camera, you owe it to yourself to try this game it. It is easily in my Wii top 10. To me this game beats Madworld or the Conduit hands down. In the end the game is scary, something so few are these days. Also thanks to a great story you really get invested in the outcome, something that dies if the concept is weak or unoriginal.
If you are on the fence pick this one up, you will almost certainly not be disappointed as long as you know what to expect.
If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to help.

I've been trying to find a copy, but haven't succeeded. I guess I'll have to order online. Thanks for the impressions averyblund, sounds great.
One thing I wanted to add- I tend to be the type who can only play a particular game for an hour or so at a time before I get bored or distracted. I suppose I have a short gaming attention span. Few games really get me hook and this game joins that short list. That awesome autosave system (for a survival horror game) really lends to the "pick up and play" mentality.
Also worth mentioning is the near lack of loading times. Only initial loading of the game is there any wait. The rest of the time is seamless, which really makes this game significantly more cinematic than it would have been with interruptions.
I know this game is gonna flop and it will really be a shame.

awesome, Im debating getting thsi or Metroid Prime Trilogy, guess whichever I find first wins
Thanks averyblund.
I've been on the fence on getting this and I think you just convinced me. Old RE without bad controls and camera sound good to me.

Enjoy it. Just remember like any good horror experience it is best with the volume up and the lights down. Don't forget to report back. Cheers.

That's a great feature for me then. I rarely have more than 20-30 mintues at a time to play. So I'll definately consider this game. Unfortunately, since I already have a huge backlog, I'll probably pick it up on the cheap in 6 months.
